Every Time Vegeta Died (And Who Killed Him)

Death comes to all – often more than once if you are unlucky enough to be one Dragon Ball character. At this point, every single member of the Z-Fighters has died more than once, especially considering the spin-offs and alternate timelines. Shockingly, Vegeta has actually died as many times as Krillin in between Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Superand Dragon ball online.

Vegeta's deaths tend to be some of the most interesting, emotional, and dramatic of all Dragon Ballusually says something about their character rather than just being shock value to raise the stakes. Like Goku, Vegeta is one of the few characters responsible for at least one of his own deaths, but he's lost his life to plenty of villains—and even his biggest rival, according to Dragon ball online.

Frieza beats Vegeta to death on Namek

Vegeta dies for the first time on Namek. After receiving a Zenkai boost when Dende heals him, Vegeta mistakenly believes this power-up is enough to help him fight Frieza. He couldn't be more wrong. So much faster and stronger than the Prince of All Saiyans, Frieza immediately starts toying with Vegeta, beating him to near death.

Frieza punches Vegeta, strangling him and leaving his body broken and bleeding on the ground. Vegeta is left in tears as he pleads with Goku to avenge the Saiyans. Frieza finally kills Vegeta with a Death Ray to the chest, piercing his heart. Goku gives Vegeta a quiet burial on Namek as he takes on the pride of all Saiyans and begins his final battle with Frieza.

Future Androids 17 & 18 Kill Super Saiyan Vegeta in Trunks' timeline

Death of Future Vegeta

In Future Trunks' timeline, Vegeta is one of the first Z-Fighters to die during the battle with the Androids (dying second after Piccolo died first). After Goku's death from the heart virus, Vegeta manages to unlock Super Saiyan and becomes the strongest hero on Earth when Android 17 and 18 are awakened.

Unfortunately, Future Vegeta didn't have the edge his main timeline counterpart had on the Androids. Future Vegeta is easily killed by Future Androids 17 and 18 in their battle. A look back in Dragon Ball Z The anime shows Future Vegeta being killed by Android 17's Photon Flash specifically.

Majin Vegeta sacrifices his life to stop Majin Buu

Majin Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z
Majin Vegeta

Majin Buu Saga is a record low for Vegeta. After Goku returns to Earth for a day, Vegeta quickly finds himself in a mid-life crisis when he realizes that his rival is much stronger than he will ever be. Allowing himself to be possessed by Babidi, Vegeta receives a massive power boost and begins to act as he did in the Saiyan Saga – killing innocents indiscriminately and forcing Goku into a life-or-death battle.

After Goku talks sense into Vegeta by reminding him of his love for Bulma and Trunks, Vegeta knocks Goku out and takes it upon himself to kill Majin Buu. Outclassed by Buu, Vegeta has no choice but to put all his Ki into one final attack: his final atonement. Vegeta destroys himself and knows he is destined to go to Hell for all he has done. Vegeta fails to kill Buu, but he proves himself a true hero by sacrificing himself.

Frieza blasts Vegeta alongside the rest of Earth

IN Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection FWhis points out that Vegeta's fatal flaw is the fact that he thinks too much. During the film's final battle, Vegeta has Golden Frieza on the ropes and comes extremely close to killing him. Frieza is unable to do anything against Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta's overwhelming power, but as foreshadowed earlier in the film, Vegeta takes a punch for too long and reconsiders.

By toying with Frieza, Vegeta gives the tyrant a perfect window to wipe out the Earth and destroy Vegeta with it. He rewinds time just enough for Goku to swoop in and kill Frieza with a Kamehameha just before he can destroy the planet. Vegeta is clearly annoyed that he didn't get the chance to kill Frieza, unaware that he wasted his only opportunity.

Goku and Vegeta kill each other in Dragon Ball Online's Future

Akira Toriyama wrote a timeline for MMORPGs Dragon ball online which describes the fates of all the great Z-fighters. In Age 801, Goku and Vegeta fly into outer space for a final battle, knowing that they are past their prime and at the end of their lives. Their final battle is never seen, but years later a supernova is observed in roughly the same region that Goku and Vegeta left for.

One thing is certain about their latest battle: neither Goku nor Vegeta are returning. Realistically, Goku and Vegeta killed each during their final battle and left specifically so they could fight to the death. If their last battle was anything like that Dragon Ball Super: Super Herothey both exhausted each other's full energy, and the victor slowly fell after securing the victory.
