How Metaphor: ReFantazio incorporates themes of anxiety into the game
One of Metaphor: ReFantazio's overarching themes is anxiety, and the game incorporates that theme into its gameplay through a variety of features.
Each Tribe's History and History in Metaphor: ReFantazio
The Elda tribe make up a very rare and magical group of people
Players will likely be more familiar with the Elda tribe, which Metaphor: ReFantazioThe main character is an Elda. As such, players will experience Euchronia's thoroughgoing prejudice against the Eldas even when walking the streets of Grand Trad. The Elda tribe is very different from the other eight due to their human-like appearance, while each of them Parables other tribes have distinct characteristics, leading others to view them as inferior beings. In addition, members of the Elda tribe, although few, are condemned by the Church of Saints for inheriting dangerous magic that goes against the church's teachings, so they are heavily discriminated against and rarely make public appearances.
The Clemar tribe make up the largest population in Euchronia
Another regular player will likely become all too familiar with during his time in the Metaphor: ReFantazio is the Clemar tribe, due to its being the largest population in Euchronia. Arguably the game's breakout star, Leon Strohl is a Clemar, though he doesn't display some of his own tribe's most dominant traits. Members of the Clemar tribe make up a majority of the key government positions in Euchronia, and the Euchronian royal family are all Clemar as well. This generally leads Clemar to believe that they are necessary for Euchronia's survival, but Strohl's humility prevents him from believing that about himself.
Clemars are physically distinguished by the horns that grow on the sides of their heads.
The Roussainte tribe consists of excellent fighters
The Roussainte strain is essentially Metaphor: ReFantazios version of elves, both in their appearance with long, pointed ears and their stereotypical fighting abilities. Parable's Hulkenberg, who players encounter fairly early in the game, is a member of the Roussainte tribe, and this is particularly evident in her combat prowess. They could also be compared to The Legend of Zelda's Gerudo, as the women who make up the Roussainte tribe are often found to be stronger than the men of other tribes. Roussainte members also look for opportunities to prove their superiority over others by outdoing them, and they make up the second largest population in Euchronia.
The Paripus tribe is heavily discriminated against despite its population
The Paripus strain is another of Metaphor: ReFantazios discriminated tribes, but not for their physical appearance or abilities. Instead, members of the Paripus tribe are happy-go-lucky and therefore seen as ruthless by the majority of the Euchronic population. This means that their personality alone is apparently enough to arouse prejudice against them, and this is especially noticeable in big cities. Finally, Paripus members are bestial in appearance and even have tails, and their positive nature also contributes to their enjoyment of parties and other festivities.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Review – The Next Great RPG
Metaphor: ReFantazio leverages its Persona influence alongside more classic RPG inspiration to deliver an unmissable RPG experience.
Members of the Rhoag tribe live much longer than the other tribes
Metaphor: ReFantazio's Rhoag tribe is made up of individuals who live twice as long as other tribes, so they generally have a wealth of knowledge that they look for opportunities to pass on. One of their unique characteristics is that they age at the same rate until they reach adolescence and then spend the rest of their lives in middle and old age. This leads to them also appearing as older individuals, with many others often referring to them as “elderly”. In addition, they wear traditional makeup on their faces and have been known to hold grudges for up to three generations.
Members of the Mustari tribe have a third eye that they use to see Magla
Mustari tribe in Metaphor: ReFantazio constitute one of the most unusual groups of people due to the fact that they have a third eye, which allows them to see Magla. This strange physical appearance leads them to wear masks, and their unusual religious beliefs require them to always wear ceremonial dress. They are not necessarily a rare group of people Metaphor: ReFantaziobut they live in the Virga Island archipelago and are thus not seen much around Grand Trad in Euchronia. They also experience some discrimination, like the Elda and Paripus tribes, because of their religious beliefs.
Euchronians often refer to them as “heathens” as a result.
The Eugief tribe consists of bat-like individuals at the bottom of society
The Eugief tribe forms yet another of the Metaphor: ReFantazios most discriminated individuals, as their distinctive bat-like appearance makes everyone regard them as creepy and horrible. Unlike the game's other tribes, however, members of the Eugief tribe have night vision and excellent hearing, much like actual bats. They are incredibly fast and dexterous, but for some reason they prefer to put their energy into farming and hunting. Finally, they are all very gentle individuals and prefer to work with others than alone. Unfortunately, their discriminatory status does not contribute to that quality in them very much.
Members of the Nidia tribe are excellent at winning the hearts of others
The Nidia strain constitutes one of the Metaphor: ReFantazios most sociable and charismatic people — so charismatic, in fact, that they are experts at winning the hearts of others. They generally prefer to stay in the city, as they find it safer, and for all they are willing to show, there is a great deal of mystery to them. Also, like the Roussainte strain, the Nidia strain could be compared to The Legend of Zelda's Gerudo, due to their exclusivity in their own settlements.
The Ishkia tribe is composed of highly intelligent, winged individuals
Ishkia tribe in Metaphor: ReFantazio is a highly intelligent group of individuals that have two pairs of wings. They generally take positions as scholars and priests and are held in high esteem by others due to their attractive appearance. Despite this redeeming quality, some members of the Ishkia tribe tend to look down on others because of their intelligence, and this often inspires the same response from those they look down on. Finally, with the possible exception of the Elda tribe, the Ishkia tribe has the lowest population of any tribe in the Metaphor: ReFantazio.
