We are building a new gaming and entertainment universe of Disney experiences.”

Given Disney's large investment, there is a lot riding on this partnership with Epic Games. The release of this untitled Disney game is likely a big deal for Epic, as the company has seen some turbulent times recently. Earlier in 2026, Epic Games announced the layoffs of around a thousand people, including the artist who designed Jonesy, and an employee with terminal cancer. It was followed by the announcement that three game modes would be shut down Fortnite.
