The Playstation and Xbox brands have been at the forefront of Console Wars for over twenty years, with Sony and Microsoft who not only developed their own video game hardware but also their own exclusive software that could only be played on their respective systems. However, times have changed, and the concept of the console war has slowly died down.
Fortunately for consumers, Microsoft has completely changed its strategy in recent years, and it began to port video games originally published by Xbox Game Studios over to PlayStation 5. These are all existing examples of this strange but welcome crossover, including upcoming titles that have not yet been released at the time of writing.
Minecraft Legends
An action RPG MINECRAFT SPIN-Off
Microsoft's acquisition of Mojang -Studios (and by extension of Minecraft IP) was a monumental moment for the video game industry. Many were worried that subsequent ports in this classic game and/or future spin-offs would remain exclusive to the Xbox consoles, but fortunately this never ended up. As a result Minecraft Legends Released on both the Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5 at the same time.
Developed by Mojang and published by Xbox Game Studios, Minecraft Legends is a hybrid between a measure RPG and a strategy game that takes place in the colorful cubic world in this beloved series. The Minecraft Franchise has a massive fanbase nowadays (of which a large part consists of children), so it is good that titles like this are not exclusive to just a brand of home console.

An engrossing historical experience of obsidian
Obsidian Entertainment, known for games that Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The stick of truthwas one of many development studios that Microsoft acquired in the mid-2010s, and as a result, all its games remained exclusive to Xbox Systems for a few years. But Microsoft announced its plans to transfer its games to competing consoles in 2024, and Pentiment Be the very first in the list.
This game is described as a historical adventure RPG located in Europe from the 16th century and was brought to life through a beautiful hand-painted art style. Pentiment Is a unique and beautiful experience that may not be for everyone, but it is perfect for all the historic buffs out there.

A reckless survival game in a miniature world
Based is another obsidian entertainment project that was originally exclusive to Xbox consoles but was transferred to Playstation 5 in April 2024. It is reminiscent of films such as Honey, I shrinked the kidsBecause it revolves around a group of children who are shrunk by a mysterious machine and must survive in their own garden.
Based Is a co-op survival game, which means that players have to gather resources, fight bugs and other small critters and craft weapons and tools to keep these children alive and find out how they ended up in the dangerous situation. It is a ruthless but surprisingly engaging game cycle, and fans of the survival genre will enjoy it. Its sequel, Grounded 2was announced quite recently, and although it seems that it will be an Xbox and PC exclusive at the moment, it will probably be transferred to the PS5 at one point after the first edition.
Thieves Sea
Rare's Ambitious Pirate Adventure
The release of Thieves Sea In 2018, a historic moment was for Xbox fans because it was the first game developed by Rare in over ten years that was not a collection of its previous titles or a motion-controlled Kinect exclusive. While it originally got some mixed reviews, this colorful pirate game was slowly improved with consistent updates and expansions, and it now has a significant player base.
Thieves Sea was one of the other exclusive that Microsoft decided to end up with PS5 in early 2024, which means that users of Sony's console can now enjoy this ambitious and expansive pirate adventure that includes sailing, sword battle, naval fight, treasure hunting, looting and more. And the best is that Thieves Sea Has cross-play activated, which means that the Xbox Series X/S player and PS5 players can freely interact with each other.

The long -awaited return of a classic strategy series
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, years before joining the Home Console industry, Microsoft was well known for its many PC games, with the real-time strategy series, Empire ageto be one of the most loved ones. This led to the creation of The age of mythologyA spin-off who ditched the historical roots to its predecessors and focused more on fantastic mythological characters and creatures.
Fortunately for fans of this game Microsoft made a remastered version 2024 with the title Age of mythology: retellingas eventually transferred to PS5 2025 along with its Immortal pillar expansion. This is basically the same timeless strategy title from 2002, but with improved modern graphics and a more accessible user interface. While most people prefer to play these types of games on PC (with a mouse), the controls of the PS5 port are surprisingly solid.
Forza Horizon 5
This classic racing series can now compete with Gran Turismo on the same system
For many years the competition simulator genre was dominated on home consoles by two popular franchise: Microsofts Forza Series and Sony's Gran Turismo series. But after deciding to slowly ditch the concept exclusively 2024, ported Microsoft Ported Forza Horizon 5 to Playstation 5 in April 2025.
The presence of this unexpected edition means that racing enthusiasts can finally enjoy both Forza horizon and Gran Turismo on the same console. They definitely can't go wrong with Forza Horizon 5Because this is an excellent video game with fast play, lively vehicle models, beautiful environments and an addictive online multiplayer mode.
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition
Age of Empires had to get to PS5 at some point
Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the classic real-time strategy game made to celebrate the 20th anniversary. While this title was released on PC and Xbox consoles 2019, before Age of mythology: retellingIt was transferred to PS5 much later than its equivalent, in May 2025.
Nevertheless, fans in real time are excited by the fact that both of these series are finally available on Sony's console. Unlike The age of mythologyThe Age of Empires 2 Has a historical environment, and it has many real civilizations and armies, such as the Celts, the Vikings, the Persians, the Mongols and many more. Like its aforementioned spin-off, this PS5 port has a solid control scheme and cross-play multiplayer with the PC and Xbox versions.
Senuas Saga: Hellblade 2
After eight years, Senua finally returns to the Playstation brand
Oddly enough, the first game in this series, Hellblade: Senua's victim, was originally a Playstation 4 exclusive until Microsoft bought Ninja Theory 2018 and transferred it to Xbox One. Thanks to this acquisition, the studio quickly began to work with a sequel with a higher budget and a larger team, resulting in the creation of Senuas Saga: Hellblade 2.
As his predecessor, Hellblade 2 Is an action adventure game that plays and feels like nothing else on the market. It takes place in a northern mythology setting, and although it has a fixed game with a dynamic combat system and some exciting puzzles, its dark story has some psychological horror elements that raise the whole experience and distinguish it from similar titles. Xbox and PC versions of Hellblade 2 Got critical praise in 2024, and fortunately it was transferred to PS5 this month.
