It takes many intestines for a developer to admit that its previous games missed the brand, but that is the message EA Vancouver sends directly out of the gate with EA Sports FC 26. The studio wants to let its players know that the team has taken society's feedback seriously and has taken great progress to deal with it with this year's game. Where Past EA Sports Soccer Games may have focused on some ground features, FC 26 Feels more like a top-to-bottom review, and for fans it is very exciting.
Game Rant was invited to EA Vancouver to hear about all the changes and improvements the studio makes for EA Sports FC 26 And to see those carried out with practical play. While some of the finer points in situations that Ultimate Team and Career have to wait for a later date, I can share my first impressions of EA Sports FC 26Games based on a very fast session. In one word: This year's game feels faster, with a pace that requires stronger instincts and whose AI better matches real teammates.

FC 26: 7 Old FIFA features that have to return
While improvements in certain aspects of the series have been made over the years, some old FIFA mechanics were removed and should return in FC 26.
It is not to say that EA Sports FC 26 Opponents will not make a doubtful decision or two, but there is an obvious feeling that The level of competition has been brought closer to realism than ever before. You feel the pressure almost immediately when you get a pass, you are struggling to get positioning if an opponent hits you to the ball, and the goalkeeper will make some amazing rescues that feel less like mind reading and more like how a real keeper can react. Much of the unpredictable character of previous games has been renovated To create an experience that makes your team feel like a coherent device and for your opponents to feel less like a pushover.
FC 26's authentic and competitive presets will offer players different playing styles
EA Sports FC 26 divides its strategy into two separate segments: authentic and competitive. Authentic game is what you will see in offline modes as a kickoff and in career, while competitive has been canceled for the game's online positions such as Ultimate Team and Clubs.
Authentic game takes into account the randomness of AI teammates and feels like a result methodically and a little slower. It emphasizes strategy and realism, but is also somewhat unpredictable. Competitive, on the other hand, gives the player more agency and is more responsive and faster. It is up to the player to dictate their defensive strategies, but they will be rewarded with fewer unpredictable situations, such as a goalkeeper diverting a shot straight back to their opponents.
For our practical preview, we did not get enough time with neither authentic nor competitive, so full thoughts will have to wait until a later date. What we played felt more in line with what a real football experience would look like. Dribling was more responsive and correctAnimations were fluid and matched the skill level for the specific player, one -time passed their intended goal more often than not, goalkeepers felt smarter when it comes to their positioning and the return of the low -powered shot which was satisfactory goal.
The amount of attention EA Vancouver has added to each individual element of FC 26 is really impressive.
But perhaps the most impressive element was the positioning animations and interactions, which saw defensive players better block their opponents and stronger attackers to keep their defender away from the ball. Player collisions have long been a tricky part of the FC formula, but it feels like EA Vancouver found a sweet place here. Maybe the interactions are not always realistic, but they feel justice.
There is an incredible attention that has been paid to so many aspects of EA Sports FC 26 That it feels overwhelming. After spending hours in the studio, developers break as many of the changes as they could – and still left things – one thing is clear: the team has listened. Any change or improvement is motivated by feedback from society And have strengthened for the developers to implement. It must have been humble to admit that a previous product did not meet expectations, but it has also been released for EA Vancouver. Opening a communication line that has affected the development of EA Sports FC 26 should result in a more satisfactory game, even though it does not have the spotted, back-of-the-box features.

EA Sports FC 26 reveals standard edition cover athletes
The creators of the upcoming EA Sports FC 26 officially reveal athletes who will be displayed on the cover of the game's standard edition.
The changes are not only found in any area. It is in dribling, movement, shooting, tackle, goalkeepers, presentation, menus, accessibility, archetypes – the list continues and continues. Usually, an experience with a new EA sports game boils down to those that are handful of new features that are easily summarized in a few buzzwords, but this year it is impossible to briefly describe even an element in the game, even less the entire package. It happens so much that I'm on my way back to spend another day in the studio to play even more.
EA Sports FC 26 Early Access begins September 19, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, before the game is officially released on September 26.
