Dragon Ball Super Anime officially returns in fall 2026 with new remake

Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri has officially confirmed that a new Dragon Ball Super remake begins with a new adaptation of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods releasing autumn 2026. Title Dragon Ball Super: BeerusCEO of Capsule Corporation Akio Iyoku describes the new anime as an improved version of the story that improves upon the original Dragon Ball Super story arc.

Dragon Ball Super is officially back with a brand new anime eight years later.

Dragon Ball Supers original Beerus Saga was plagued by animation issues and poor pacing, so it looks like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is set for the course to correct all its problems with a fresh art style reminiscent of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The new anime will be heavily based on Akira Toriyama's original draft Battle of Godsand realistically lead to future remakes of the rest of Dragon Ball Supers fairy tales.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will air on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026, before likely leading to a remake of the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection FUniverse 6 Tournament arc, Goku Black Saga, Universe Survival Saga and Dragon Ball Super: Broly prior to the release of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, which is set to adapt Toyotarou's Moro Saga Dragon Ball Super anime. Everything we know about the new Dragon Ball Super Anime so far is that it airs this fall and is being redone Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in an improved version of the plot based on Akira Toriyama's original draft of the film.

Although not 1:1 with Dragon Ball Super: Brolys art direction and art style, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus clearly taking inspiration from what many consider to be the best animated Dragon Ball Film. The trailer for Dragon Ball Super remake showcases several key moments from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Godsand the difference in quality from Dragon Ball Supers first episode is immediately ready. The characters look absolutely fantastic, the animation and action are the most fluid they've ever looked, and the overall direction feels directly inspired by DBS: Brolys frenetic and fantastic action.

Dragon Ball Super Remake May Finally Fix DBZ's SSJ3 Vegeta Plot Hole

Dragon Ball Super Remake needs to make some major changes, otherwise Dragon Ball Z: Battle of God's most important scene will no longer make sense.

The trailer teases Super Saiyan God Goku's final battle with Beerus, who looks leagues better than DBZ: Battle of Godseven less Dragon Ball Super. Also included is God Ritual, Goku's first fight with Beerus, and Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta's rage against Beerus after the God of Destruction beats Bulma. It doesn't seem like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will take Dragon Ball DAIMASSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ4 Goku into consideration, but it's also possible that the trailer didn't want to spoil those major developments. Anyway, Dragon Ball fans are in for a big treat when Dragon Ball Super will officially return in the fall of 2026.
