Disharmony Have announced a huge increase in server size, so it can be difficult to believe that a server will ever reach the new maximum capacity. Discord gets regular updates that introduce new features and bug fixes, but this one is particularly impressive.
Back in July, Discord released an update that made a major change in the number of users who could fit in a server. Prior to July 7, the Discord servers ended to 500,000 users, but the update changed the limit to a huge 2.5 million. While this would be more than enough for the vast majority of servers that hosted Discord, it seems that the company was not done with server size.
Discord greatly expands server capacity
On September 3, Discord announced a new update that made a number of technical adjustments, bug fixes and added new features. Although most of these will probably be well received by society, the server size change is what is surprised users the most. From this update, Discord now allows 25 million users to occupy a single server on the platform. Many gaming fandoms would easily fit into that limit, even if each player would join a single server dedicated to the aforementioned game. For example, two of Ubisoft's best -selling games, Killer's Creed Valhalla and Father Cry 5Come close, but did not really reach 25 million sales. As an alternative example, the new capacity involves the combined population in Sweden, Denmark and Norway can all fit a single discord server with little space to save. This increase can be a major thing for developers containing discord directly in games.
While the vast majority of servers will never come close to this limit, the performance is a technical wonders that probably required a lot of work on backend to perform. Discord says that stability improvements have been made for batched server updates and asynchronous operations to “improve performance for very large servers.” The platform has come very far since its roots of discord is a hobby project for Final Fantasy 11 Players to communicate more easily with each other.
In addition to the server adjustments, Discord has added some new features and changes that may be of interest to users. This includes improvements in how the Android app works on older and lower devices, improvements to the Discord Shop on Mobile to get it in line with the desktop experience, new server permit options for attachment messages and a sound effect for when a user's camera turns on or off, which should improve integrity.
