No, it's not your internet. Well, if it isn't. Discord outages are reported worldwide, with thousands of messages coming in throughout the day. High volume occurred throughout the morning, and is starting to pick up again as of this writing (4:15 PM EST).
Reports of problems with Discord's messaging and streaming features reached a fever pitch about five hours ago. Personally, I am unaffected; but I know several people who have lost the ability to connect with others for the time being.
Not the first time in recent days
This is not the first time widespread reports have surfaced online. I where suffered a pretty serious outage last week, although it seems I've been spared so far today.
According to the ever-reliable DownDetector, over 21,000 reports were filed a couple of hours ago. Thousands are still pouring in. Discord's Twitter account has confirmed things on the company's end:
“We believe we have identified the issue and are taking steps to try to restore voice traffic,” the support page updated about 15 minutes ago. As such, this may be resolved by the time you see this article. If it isn't, know you're not alone. Because I do the same thing you do when this happens – I rush online to verify my suspicions.
