Disappointed with Battlefield 6? Then it might be time to try this free-to-play FPS

Battlefield 6 There are only a few days left until the release of Season 2, and hopefully it turns out to be exciting enough to bring some much needed hype to the FPS. Last year, Battlefield 6 was a record-breaking launch for the franchise, but it has also faced many ups and downs since its strong opening weekend. Between hit detection issues, claims of not large enough scale maps, controversial skins, RedSec complaints and still no charts in sight, Battlefield 6 has left many players frustrated.

There is, of course, still the chance Battlefield 6 to bounce back. The military shooter has only been active for a few months now, though Battlefield 6 Season 2 will need to provide some strong content if players are to stay invested (or come back to the shooter). And if a player is waiting for the game to improve or if they are just ready to leave Battlefield 6 behind and invest in another game, a free-to-play option can be the perfect placeholder. Delta Force has been out since 2024, and in that time it's proven to be an incredibly strong FPS that can fill the void quite a bit Battlefield 6 players have been left with.

Delta Force has everything the Battlefield franchise is known for, and some features are actually handled even better

  • Large scale maps

  • 32 against 32 games

  • Vehicle

  • Operator class system

  • Character Abilities

  • Cinematic atmosphere

  • Strong weapon variety

These are the characteristics of Battlefield franchise, and Delta Force has many of the same important features while being completely free. As Battlefield 6, Delta Force has a modern environment. So, for Battlefield fans still looking for an FPS in World War I and World War II, Delta Force may not scratch the right itch. However, Delta Force can be ideal for players who want well-made large-scale battles that have tons of playstyles.

Battlefield 6s map sizes have been one of the main points of debate ever since the game launched. Leaked Battlefield 6 Season 2 maps may tease more variety, but there are already concerns on Reddit and other social media platforms that they won't bring anything really new to the table. Battlefield 6 still has a lot of work to do in terms of addressing its map variety, especially when it comes to the lack of marine options. thankfully, Delta Force covers that too.

Season 2 of Battlefield 6 was supposed to launch in January but was pushed back to February 17. Some of the leaked Season 2 details include two new maps, a small bird helicopter, motorcycle and three new weapons. However, it is important to remember that leaks are not official confirmation.

Battlefield 6 players who are hungry for naval combat will want to jump over to Delta Force

Too many Battlefield fans, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1s sea maps are still seen as some of the best combat in the series. Requirements for marine charts i Battlefield 6 has continued to appear, and it would be surprising if BF Studios didn't deliver eventually. “Eventually” is the key word here though. There is no way of knowing when Battlefield 6 will actually bring this type of combat to multiplayer. The campaign has water-based moments, but that's about it. This also makes the lack of multiplayer water battles that much more frustrating.

With Delta Forcethere is no need to wait. Delta Forces gameplay covers land, sea and air, and presents something for Battlefield fans with different tastes. granted, Battlefield 6 ultimately feels better when it comes to how the controls handle, though Delta Force is far ahead of the former in terms of different maps. Plus, there's never been a more perfect time to check out free-to-play FPS. Delta Forces latest season, Morphosis, just launched with a treasure trove of new content.

Delta Force could be the answer that frustrated Battlefield 6 players have been looking for

It may not be marked with Battlefield name, but Delta Force feels incredibly close to the franchise where it counts. It's not a perfect game by any means, but it solves a lot of problems fans have had with it Battlefields latest post. It not only has features like Battlefield 6 lack, but it makes them pretty good.

As the FPS and Extraction Shooter genres compete, Delta Force embraces both sides

Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7and ARC Raiders all came out within a month, and they showed a fascinating shift in what gamers are looking for. Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 had strong sales, but ARC Raiders took the spotlight as one of the biggest games of 2025. It really put extraction shooters in the spotlight, and the game has gained a better reputation since its launch than Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 have. ARC Raiders felt like the first game to show how much potential extraction shooters have to be the next big thing and surpass FPS games. Battlefield 6The declining number of players has several reasons, and one of them may be boredom with the usual FPS formula. Delta Force has a leg up on the competition by not only presenting large scale Battlefield-style matches, but it also has a extraction mode called Hazard Operations.

Regardless of whether you are drawn to Battlefield-inspired matches or become more invested in extraction games, Delta Forces game modes have the best of both worlds. When Season 2 is released, it will be fascinating to see how Battlefield 6s update has been received. Before it launched, the game felt like a promising return to the franchise's roots. granted, Battlefield 6 has its strong points, but there's still plenty of room for improvement before it really feels like a true return to form. Season 2 is hopefully a step in the right direction, but only time will tell. Until then, Delta Force may prove to be a pleasant surprise too Battlefield 6 player. Even better, it doesn't cost a penny.
