You may have noticed that Kojima Productions for a Japanese studio do not use many Japanese actors in Death Stranding 2: on the beach. In fact, there are not many Asian actors in Hideo Kojima's previous games either. It seems that there are two reasons for this, and although the first one is understandable, the second reason is a bit strange.

Death Stranding 2 has only one Japanese actor, while the rest is mostly Hollywood A-lister or other prominent celebrities making a como. It seems that the main reason for this is that the studio makes its recordings in Las Angeles, where it is not so easy to find a Japanese actor with English -speaking skills in English. However, Asians also have flawless skin, which looks too false when recreated in the game.

“We record with other actors in a studio in Los Angeles, so it's a bit of a problem if they don't have English skills at native level,” Kijima said in an interview with IGN Japan. “I was looking for someone who could speak Japanese and even English at the level, but it was difficult. Kutsuna grew up in Australia, can speak English and when I met her I thought she was a nice person, so we decided to work together.”
As we know, Kojima loves to meet celebrities from all over the world and scan them. However, there are technical problems when doing so with someone from Asia or Asian descent because of their flawless skin. When it is recreated in the game, this skin makes their characters look more like computer graphics than the photosalist method that dead 2 beautifully follows.

If you think you will hate Death Stranding 2, you are right
Death Stranding 2 will give you many reasons not to like it, but it is important to look past them to get to the good things.
“It's hard to make Asians look like their real counterparts,” he said. “Especially women and young people have such beautiful, smooth skin. Asians and not just Japanese people are known for their beautiful, smooth skin, so it looks like CG.” But he explained that he would like to work with more Japanese talent in the future.
“On the other hand, it is easier to get the details of the elderly or people with lots of freckles,” Kojima continued. “I've tried to use Japanese people before, but it's hard to make them look like their real counterparts. But this time I used new technology, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Well, I would like to do even better next time.”
