Summary
-
Cyberpunk 2077's Switch 2 port can be played with a mouse and keyboard.
-
There is no option to play with a keyboard in the game's settings, but it still works if you just connect one anyway.
-
It seems that official keyboard support was under development, but was scrapped before launch.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was a Switch 2 launch title, which lets those who just stick to Nintendo consoles finally explore Night City. Even better, the controls are very versatile – even more than was originally announced.
Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 has mouse supports, as much as we already knew, and the option for this is in the game's settings. But as it turns out, it has keyboard support as well, although there is no option for this. All you have to do is connect a mouse and keyboard, and you can start playing Cyberpunk 2077 as if you were on PC.
Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 has full keyboard support, that just doesn't say it does
This was discovered by some early players online, including Youtuber Blunty, who shared the find in a video. Here you can see that the keyboard checks work just as if you were playing on PC.
The only difference is that the text that shows the controls is a little cut in places. This can either mean that a keyboard and mouse alternative was intended to be in the game settings, but was scrapped during the development, or this was this there to test the game during the development.
Another disadvantage is that you cannot restore the keys, since the keyboard is not mentioned in the settings at all. Still, the standard options should be quite intuitive and let you play Cyberpunk 2077 in a way that few of us would have expected to be able to play it on Switch 2.

I never expected cyberpunk 2077 would be the game that got to believe in switch 2
Play Cyberpunk 2077 at Switch showed me the real power of the new handholder.
Of course, you can play it with a bunch of other control combinations also with the mouse along with other settings. It also supports gyro checks, if you want to really direct your weapons when you are in the middle of a gun fight.
In addition to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2, CD Project Red has also told us that we will receive a new update. We have to wait and see what it means, but we can expect it to meet PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC later this month (ongoing support for PS4 and Xbox One was stopped in 2022).
