Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Project “reaches a new level” after successful beta

It's a well-known fact that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to launch with a multiplayer component. Much like Grand Theft Auto 5, the plan was for the base game to be released, with the multiplayer modes to follow. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk's rocky launch meant that any multiplayer ambitions were abandoned as CD Projekt Red focused their efforts on fixing the game.

The prospect of a multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 was exciting for fans, and it was gut-wrenching when it was cancelled, so much so that a group of budding gamers are aiming to bring it to life themselves. CyberMP has been in the works for over a year and aims to give players what CD Projekt couldn't, and it may be closer than ever.

In a recent post on the project's official Discord server, the team shared that a recent beta “exceeded all expectations,” becoming “one of the most successful in the project's history.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer project is making great progress

CyberMP just went through its sixth closed beta. Among other things, the beta focused on vehicle and player synchronization, a new overlay, PvP and racing game modes, and the overall resilience and stability of the platform. It seems like it was a huge success.

“The results exceeded all expectations,” the team said in a message on Discord, continuing, “This test can rightly be called one of the most successful in the history of the project!

Cyberpunk 2077 is surprisingly on track to be more successful than The Witcher 3

Night City seems much more attractive than the continent.

“In the few days, only a handful of game client crashes were recorded, some of which were not directly related to the CyberMP client. All detected game bugs have either already been fixed or are being fixed now. We feel that we are reaching a new level and are preparing for even more extensive changes.”

This test can rightfully be called one of the most successful in the history of the project!

Given the success of GTA Online, and the love gamers have developed for Cyberpunk 2077 over the past few years, this project seems like a match made in heaven. While there's no sign of a release date yet, it's clearly making great progress, and the team warns, “there's plenty of exciting stuff ahead.”
