From MMORPG veterans to actors who have lent their voices to major IPs such as Xenoblade Chronicles and Dragon Ageas well as smaller indie games such as GreedFall and Absolutely, Crimson Deserts cast is packed with talent. At the center of it all is Alec Newman, who voices Crimson Desertthe main character, Cliff. Newman is no stranger to video game roles, having appeared in games such as Cyberpunk 2077where he voiced Adam Smasher, as well Final Fantasy 14, Dragon Age 2, Xenoblade Chroniclesand Star Wars: The Old Republic. For his portrayal of Kliff i Crimson DesertNewman was “inspired by the voice and mannerisms of his wife's stepfather, Graham Fleck, who died in 2022, not long after Newman took on the role,” according to a recent Epic Games Store interview with the actor.

Stewart Scudamore, who voices Oongka, has a similarly extensive gaming background. His most famous role may be Blackthorne, the blacksmith i Final Fantasy 16but he also played the roles in Calgar i Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2Klaus in Lies of P: Overtureand Ai Nengqi in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Even if they don't immediately recognize Scudamore's name, players who follow modern RPGs and action games have almost certainly come across his work before, meaning his role as Oongka in Crimson Desert likely means he won't just be a supporting character.
Among Crimson DesertRebecca Hanssen might be the most famous name though, as she's voiced some of the biggest characters in recent AAA releases. Hanssen played EVE in Stellar Bladeas well as Olivia Jablonski in Dying Light: The Beast and several characters from Baldur's Gate 3. IN Crimson Desertshe voices Damiane, a character that has already sparked interest among fans speculating about the game's story.
Peter Bramhill, who plays Yann in Crimson Desertis probably best known for his role as Thancred Waters in Final Fantasy 14. Through several expansions, Thancred has evolved significantly, giving Bramhill the opportunity to explore his character on a much wider scale than some in-game voice actors can afford. Beyond Final Fantasy 14has he appeared in Xenoblade Chronicles, Dragon Age: Originsand various other titles.
Emily Barber voices Naira Crimson Desertand while her gaming resume is still growing compared to some of her co-stars, her role in the upcoming action game gives her a chance to get a big foot in the door. Her most recent role was Galandra, one of the playable characters in Absolutelyand the first to be introduced to players.
Finally, Alastair Parker rounds out the cast Crimson Desert as Myurdin. He has previously voted in Blackwall Dragon Age: Inquisitionbut he has also appeared in games like GreedFall and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2inter alia. His experience portraying characters who operate in morally gray spaces could prove especially valuable in a game that seems to lean heavily on political tension and shifting loyalties.
With Crimson Desert Seemingly hoping to lean into its story as much as its combat and open world, it will need a cast of talented voice actors who can make that story memorable and engaging. As such, artists like their own who have proven credentials in RPGs, open-world games, and character-driven stories are a must. If nothing else, the cast list suggests that Pearl Abyss understands how crucial performance is to selling the scale and emotional weight of a new fantasy epic.
