Costco has confirmed that it will no longer carry Xbox Consoles, describe the move as “a business decision.” While some stores are reportedly still storing current generations of Xbox systems from this writing, all are already on the way to clearing existing warehouses.
The Washington-based retail giant stopped selling Xbox consoles online at the end of September 2025. The entire Xbox episode on the Costco website had disappeared as part of the move, which happened without any fanfare.
Costco confirms that you are pulling in touch at Xbox Console Inventory
In a statement to La Times Studios Programming Director Destin Legar (Via Thegamer), a spokesman for Costco Xbox Hardware Clearout confirmed. The move was characterized as “a business decision”, with the representative that makes it clear that there are no plans to carry the Xbox consoles forward. The spokesman added that Costco currently offers both Playstation and Switch products, which indicates that the company considers them to be sufficient for its game inventory.
Costcos Xbox -Clearout is global
The decision to release Microsoft's gaming hardware is not exclusive to the dealer's Stateside -branch. New consumer reports indicate that Costco New Zealand is also aggressively clearing out its Xbox inventory, with discounts up to 50%. Series X and Series S can no longer be found on Costco UK's website. The dealer operates in 11 other countries, all of which appear to be about to clear out their Xbox inventory at the end of September 2025.
More Xbox Price hikes are around the corner
Costco's inventory drainage was materialized within a few days after Microsoft announced the second Xbox series X/S price increase of five months. The move, which will come into force on October 3, will see the starting level Series S-model (512 GB) Jump from $ 379.99 to $ 399.99, while the most affordable, all-digital series X will go from $ 549.99 to $ 599. 729.99, will be Microsoft's first $ 800 consoles after the adjustment. Given the proximity to the two events, it is possible that Costco's warehouse distance is a direct response to the price increases, especially if the dealer is already facing weak demand for Xbox products.
Microsoft quoted “macroeconomic” factors as the main reason for both the upcoming price adjustment and the Xbox console Prize from May 2025.
