The Unexpected Initiative is an endeavor in ARC Raiders given by Tian Wen, who asks players to help them restart a greenhouse project to improve food production. The job is to recover two specific items from the buried city: fertilizer from the Grandioso Apartments and a water pump from the broken roof gardens of Piazza Roma. While it may look like a simple fetch quest, players must find the items themselves in two PvP hot zones on Buried City.

For players who have obtained the Spaceport Trench Tower Key in ARC Raiders, here is a guide explaining the location of the door where you can use it.

Players can collect both items in any order. Simply go to the location closest to your spawn point. Just make sure to pick up both items in one round to avoid failing the mission.

To bring in Fertilizer for the Unexpected Initiative ARC Raidersplayers must reach Grandioso Apartments and enter through the lobby. The flats can be found on the eastern part of the map and are marked as a medium loot area, so expect some Raider activity.

After entering, find an empty elevator shaft with a zipline and take it to the penultimate floor. When you get here, keep an eye out for Pops and Fireballs, as they will try to grind your spot.

Simply turn right after exiting the zipline and take a staircase up to the roof. Immediately after entering the roof, players will do so find some pots in front of the doorway. Interact with them to get Fertilizer to complete the first objective of the Unexpected Initiative mission ARC Raiders. Now leave the area, quietly, and go to the next location.

Next on the list is the broken roof garden at Piazza Roma, which is just one building south of Grandioso Apartments in ARC Raiders. The building does not have a map marker on it, so simply follow the location indicated in the image above to find the correct building.

Enter the building in the Piazza Roma district and climb some stairs to reach the rooftops. Since this area is not marked as a loot zone, the chances of you encountering any other raiders here are slim.

Once you reach the roof of the building, turn right immediately, and you'll see some tubs with fertilizer in them. Enter the vault of manure beds to interact with the little ones machine at the end with pipes protruding (highlighted above).

When the interaction animation is complete, a water pump will fall from the machine which you can pick up to complete the second objective of the Unexpected Initiative quest ARC Raiders. Now, simply head to a nearby subway station to safely exit the buried city.

You can easily complete the Unexpected Initiative quest normally, but that's it recommended to do it in a night tree. Since you'll still be visiting valuable loot locations, completing the mission during a night tree will increase your chance of getting rare blueprints, including for the Tempest AR.

When looking for the fertilizer and water pump in the locations mentioned in the guide above, make sure that loot every breakable container, box and cabinet. There is a good chance that one of them will contain the Tempest blueprint, which is one of the most sought after weapon blueprints in ARC Raiders community.

Even if you don't find the Tempest, you still have a very high chance of acquiring it valuable trinkets, epic crafting components and rare weapons. Although the risk of running a night tree will be increased, completing it will give you significantly more rewards compared to a normal quest.

Unexpected Initiative Complete ARC Raiders

When you return to Speranza and manage to get the fertilizer from the Grandioso Apartments and the water pump from the broken rooftop garden in Piazza Roma, go to Tian Wen's trade tab. You will be able to claim one IL Toro Shotgun, 40x Shotgun Ammo and a Shotgun Choke II accessory as a reward for completing the Unexpected Initiative quest ARC Raiders.
