Just two months after its launch, Borderlands 4 has officially reached a lower number of players on Steam than its predecessor did during the same period. According to Steam Charts, Borderlands 4Its 24-hour peak on November 10, 2025, just two days before its two-month anniversary, was just under 20,000. While that may sound like a high number, compared to its all-time peak at launch, it's a significant drop.
To some players who are currently unhappy with the state Borderlands 4this may come as no surprise. Despite its live service accessory, the latest Borderlands the title has struggled to keep fans interested long-term. But what does Borderlands 4The latest Steam player count isn't just how low it is, but how much of the player base the game has lost since launch compared to the numbers from the mainline that came before it.

As of November 10, Borderlands 4The 24-hour outage shows a 93% loss in Steam player numbers in just two months. Considering the series' previous player count, this means that the latest entry in Gearbox's beloved franchise has lost over 10% more of its player base than Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 did in his first two months.
The original Borderlands is too old to gather reliable player count data from Steam, but since player counts were likely significantly lower than its successors, any drop in the first two months probably wasn't as significant as Borderlands 4pp.

Of course, there are a few different variables that factor into these record-breaking numbers for the franchise's Steam ports. Firstly, Borderlands 4 had a significantly higher peak player count than its predecessors during its own launch weekends, so it would naturally experience a bigger loss. Secondly, Borderlands 4The PC version in particular has been riddled with performance issues since launch, which has unintentionally drawn players away from it on Steam.
While Steam players don't count, everything is for a cross-platform game that Borderlands 4these are no doubt indicative of the community's feelings about the state of the game. Once Borderlands 4 is launching its first Bounty Pack DLC, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, perhaps it will see some of its most devoted fans return to the fray.
