Borderland's 4 developers break down new siren character, Vex

Borderlands 4 Gave players a look at some of the design choices made with Vex, the playable dark siren and the first vault hunter that the team worked with for the upcoming post. The Borderlands 4 Art Team discussed how Vex's Siren Action skills change the colors of her tattoos and her abilities, including corrosive weapons effects and her phase pets.

Vex is the latest siren to arrive at Borderland Franchise, with each post with a siren as a playable arch hunter. Vex is one of four playable vault hunters who will be available once Borderlands 4 Launches in September, with two more coming as DLC at a later date. In the fourth section of Beyond The Borderlands, Borderlands 4 Art team members Max Davenport and Ashley Lyons broke down how Siren's art design was integrated into her weapons and skill effects. Lyons stated that while Vex is known for its dark and wild appearance, included some of the colors used for her action skills deep purple and light pink as a sharp contrast. Vex's action skills will also change the colors and elements in different weapons. Lyons used a tediore weapon with a corrosive element as an example and said that using one of Vex's abilities would make it weapon green and change its elementary damage.

Davenport said that the same color design choice behind Vex action skills is reflected in her tattoos, which is one of the defining features in Borderland“Most sirens, including Myra and Lilith. Vex tattoos will also change colors depending on her action skills. Vex's different phase pets and clones will also change colors. They Borderlands 4 Designers also stated that Vex incarnated wings came later in the game's development, including small details that helped define the appearance of the dark siren.

Although Vex's dark behavior makes her stand out among others Borderlands 4 Characters, her abilities and color change forces provide some brightness to a rough and outlandic environment. It remains to be seen how many Borderlands 4 Players will choose Vex as their arches in the upcoming title.
