For a series that always has proud to go over the top with their shenanigans, Borderlands 4 May actually have taken things a little too far in an area – but potentially not intentionally. Over Reddit -Wires, Discord channels and Youtube Deep Dives, Borderlands 4 Complementary has noted to spend hundreds of hours trying to collect each phosphate, or “shiny”, weapons in the game, just to get on the can that is only mostly full. There are a total of 69, one for each legendary weapon in the game, and there is even a challenge in the game called “Shining the Brightest” associated with gathering each.
But what started as a boastful right for those with enough time on their hands to surpass the RNG gods has shown, from late, to be an impossible performance for someone to achieve. In theory, it should be easy to complete the challenge and offer players who spend more time in the game with better chances to find a shiny weapon. But after dozens of hours of agriculture (and hundreds, for some), even the most relentless players hit their heads on an increasingly harder roof. Some shiny weapons in Borderlands 4 Seemingly refusing to show up, some will not register, and others are not even agricultural from the right source and leave those who have poured countless hours in grinding as they can actually never complete the brilliant the brightest challenge.
Brilliant the brightest can be borderland 4's first really broken challenge
Borderlands 4Shiny weapons were intended to reward the game's most dedicated players, but it has instead become something of an anxiety dream for the remaining, which means that it is not even a dream at all for those who do not have that much time to give to the game. To get a shiny weapon in Borderlands 4 is extremely difficult, since the variant can only be found on legendary weapons, which are already extremely rare. Community guides describe an agricultural process that can take hundreds of hours, with some players who only see one or two shinies after dozens have run in Borderlands 4. Normally, that type of challenge would be a big part of the excitement for dedicated players, but when more reports come in, it looks like it may be less about RNG and more about how it is designed.
A reddit user published screenshots showing 58 phosphate weapons in their warehouse, but still counted the challenge in game 46. Others claim that they have reached 66 or 67 out of 69 without ways to proceed, regardless of how many runs they complete. To top it all, the missing objects always seem to be the same, with weapons such as the bloody timber jacket, the complex root and some of Moxxi's weapons that are among those no one has seen in phosphate form. In other words, it is starting to look like these specific weapons may never lose at all.
That's not all, since players have reported that I unlock a shiny weapon on a vault hunter in Borderlands 4 Prevents it from being recorded on another, and because the skin is supposed to be accounts, the system is often disdained. With it comes the same object that is unlocked but is not credited to the completion of the brilliant the brightest challenge, which effectively locks players from the performance for good. It is a dead end, to say the least, but hope that it is just an error that can be easily crushed.
The gearbox has not confirmed the problem, but the evidence is there
So far the gearbox has not confirmed that any shiny weapons in Borderland 4 are broken or unattainable. Creative director Graeme Timmins has driven back theories of hidden penalties or manipulated drip chances and says the system goes entirely on RNG. However, RNG does not explain why entire types of weapons appear to be excluded from the challenge, or why challenge counter does not proceed, even after players have clearly received new shiny weapons. There is only too much evidence to deny the presence of a problem with full confidence.
That said, the struggle for better performance in Borderlands 4 Continuing across the line and they have been going on since its launch. Given that there are still lots of kinks in the system that need to be prepared, it may only be a matter of time before the gearbox not only confirms a possible error in the game's shiny weapon system but also releases a patch that fixes the problem.
