The soul -like genre is known for its brutal difficulty and punitive battle. Sometimes it is even difficult to say what happens in the world when there are so many effects flying around at once. But not every game is as intense as Dark Souls.

Mortal Shell transforms the usual soul -like formula into a more focused experience. There are fewer weapons and tighter areas, so it is ideal for new players who do not want to worry about learning large maps or extensive weapons lists. The world is compact but very atmospheric.
Its unique “shell” mechanic lets you switch between character builds in the middle of the game, so you don't have to worry if you chose wrong, and the Harden ability gives you a defensive edge even in the thick of the battle. Deadly shell is still very difficult, but it is not as punishing as others.

Blasfemous combines the gloomy religious images of dark souls with the 2D action from Castlevania. The struggle is slower and more methodical than typical platform players, but not as punishable as its inspiration. The control point system is reasonable and there is plenty of possibility to upgrade health, mana and abilities.

Tunika is a misleading little gem. Behind its adorable fox persons and colorful world lies a tight, cryptic adventure inspired by the legend of Zelda and Dark Souls. It doesn't hold your hand. In fact, you have to reveal the manual page by side by side, which gradually reveals mechanics.
Combat is a mixture of avoidance, endurance management and healing pistons. However, the game offers some accessibility features if you need to lower the difficulty. Exploration is non -linear without becoming overwhelming.

With its isometric camera and pure art style, the death door feels like a snappy version of Dark Souls. You play as a crow that gathers souls for a bureaucratic afterlife, engages you in exact melee fight and solves light puzzles. The game is challenging, but the savings points are often, and even the residential patterns are teachable.
There is no endurance, and death sends you back without huge penalties. The controls are very well done, and the minimalist design prevents things from becoming frustrating.

Rest 2 melts soul-like elements with third person shooting and roguelike maps. You will practice firearms and moded weapons instead of the usual sword and shield. Tough managers and endurance management are important, but Gunplay shakes things up a bit.
This game also supports online co-op, making it a suitable option for newer players who have someone who can guide them through the game. In addition, the randomized world and flexible class system add some excellence to things.

Hollow Knight is a beautiful, bug -filled Metroidvania that borrows strongly from soul -like design and mechanics. While the battle is narrow and sometimes punishing, the generous bench savings system and the open map make it more easily accessible than dark souls.

Salt and sanctuary is a 2D-soul-like that gives the spirit of dark souls in a scrolling, hand-drawn world. You will still find Stamina-based battle, Dodge Rolls, Cryptic Lore and punishing enemies, but the simpler mechanics and platform elements make it more accessible.
The death penalty is not almost as punishable as in other games, and the battle is easier to take care of. Its size and scale are also more typical of an indie game, so it is easy to avoid the usual overwhelming that comes with soul -like games.

Lies by P reintroduce the story of Pinocchio as a gloomy, Gothic action-rpg in the soul-like form. The fight is sharp and intentional with weapons adaptation, perfect blocks and distinct enemy patterns. Compared to dark souls, however, everything is explained a little better and more structured. So you can master the basics faster.
You still find brutal managers, but generous respec options and an intuitive upgrade system makes progression less punishment. The Esthetic is a mixture of steampunk and saga horror, which makes this game a little more unique than some other Souls games.
