Battlefield 6 has made its big debut, and a successful one at that. The multiplayer side of the game has received critical acclaim for its high-octane action, large-scale battles, and cinematic gameplay moments. While the core Battlefield 6 experience is already great, those looking for a free-to-play option can dive into another Battlefield the title drops soon.
Battlefield: RedSec is set to launch alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1, and fans around the world are eagerly waiting to jump in. The location will be a free battle royale experience which contains all Battlefield 6's content, this time on a huge map where players must battle it out until only one remains. However, Battlefield Studios has been pretty tight-lipped about the situation and what might come after launch. With that said, here are some features that the mode absolutely must include.
Second Life Mechanic
The ability to earn back a second life after elimination
One thing that players will definitely look for in any Battle Royale mode is the chance to get back into the fight after being eliminated. In games like War zone and Fortnitethere are always those moments when players get stuck in a bad spot or just unlucky with their loot, leading to an early death. That's where a second-life mechanic could come in, ideally allowing players to earn a relocation.
Battlefield: RedSec will almost certainly let teammates respawn fallen teammates, but solo players or those unlucky early on can really benefit from a second chance. Whether it's a Gulag style system inspired by War zoneor simply a short grace period where players can reposition early in the match, such a feature could definitely take advantage of these early matches.
Emphasis on classes
Port Battlefield 6 classes and make them matter
For those of you who have not participated in the Portal Labs playtest for Battlefield: RedSecit can be a little difficult to imagine how classes will fit into the Battle Royale mode. According to reports, players will start each match with a gun, a sledgehammer, and a grenade. But what about the gadgets attached to classes?
Many players may assume that these items will be found in the wild. However, it is also possible that the situation could carry over the class system from Battlefield 6which gives players access to their gadgets either immediately or when certain requirements are met during a match. This would put more focus on using each class to benefit the team, with Support focused on respawning and reviving teammates, Engineers specializing in taking down vehicles, and Assault being better suited for frontline combat. This type of system can help differentiate the mode from other Battle Royales, above all Call of Duty: Warzone.
Bunkers, safes, vehicle keys, supplies and more
Mechanic that offers high loot for a risk
The ability to come in and find loot will definitely be a big part of Battlefield: RedSecwith players likely to be able to move through the map and find weapons and gear on the ground, as well as deliver crates and other caches containing valuable loot. However, adding things like bunkers, safes, vehicle keys and even supplies could give players new ways to get high loot with risk.
Bunkers and safes can serve as objectives that players must work through to secure high-level rewards, while supply drops can drop mid-game to encourage fights between players all trying to grab them first. Vehicle Keys can be randomly looted or earned using the same methods, giving players access to one of the many vehicles already in Battlefield 6. The goal here is to giving players more options to secure top gear while maintain high tension throughout the risk of encountering other players.
Custom Loads
Allow players to obtain custom loadouts in the game
One of the biggest aspects of any battle royale is looting, where players jump in and pick up a variety of weapons and gear to better prepare for the late game. Of course, looting in most Battle Royals is completely dependent on RNGmeaning players can sometimes get lucky and find top tier weapons, while other times they can end up with far less than desirable items.
With loadouts already in Multiplayer, Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode definitely can benefit from allowing players to access their own custom loadoutsperfectly adapted to their playing style. Doing so would eliminate some of the randomness in the classic battle royale formula. Whether it's by earning or finding loadouts, or by introducing a system that allows players to customize the weapons they pick up, custom loadouts would be a great addition to the mode.
A small-scale Battle Royale mode
A smaller mode similar to Warzone's Resurgence or Fortnite's Reload
Currently all the details around Battlefield: RedSec point to a traditional, large-scale map where players battle it out as the safe zone shrinksforcing intense battles until the last man or team standing. This definitely offers a large amount of content for players to dive into at launch, but what about post-launch content?
The answer can be a second, smaller Battle Royale experience with a reduced map size and number of players, promoting a faster style of play compared to the traditional mode. Such a situation would be comparable to Warzones Resurgence mode or Fortnite's Reload and Blitz modes, and can be an excellent choice for those looking for a more competitive and fast-paced experience in Battlefield 6's Battle royale.
A solo playlist
Battlefield: RedSec will reportedly not have solos at launch
One of the best things about battle royale games is the freedom they give players to either go solo or team up with others, usually up to three teammates, and battle it out until the last player or team is standing. While players will definitely be able to jump in Battlefields Only the Battle Royale mode, it reports the game will not feature a dedicated solo playlist at launch.
Battlefield has always leaned heavily on team-based play, with players often relying on their teammates to spawn into key areas in large-scale modes like Conquest. The game's class system also promotes teamwork, as each class plays a crucial role in supporting the squad. However, since the Battle Royale mode focuses more on survival without traditional objectives, a solo playlist is definitely needed for players who prefer to go in alone without facing the disadvantage of fighting entire troops.
Earned cosmetics and rewards
Free rewards for playing Battle Royale
Battlefield 6 is already getting a list of new Season 1 skins that can be earned through the premium Season 1 Battle Pass, as well as through the in-game store when it goes live. Players can also earn a host of free rewards ahead of Season 1 by completing missions or progressing through weapon and vehicle mastery, but adds earned rewards in Battle Royale could serve as an excellent incentive for those still on the fence about jumping in.
These rewards can be unlocked through a system similar to Battlefield 6's Missions in the form of challenges exclusive to the Battle Royale mode. Whether it's a long-term grind like the base game's Camos or a series of short-term bootcamp-style challenges, having additional rewards that can be earned would definitely be a refreshing change of pace.
