Developer Battlefield Studios has officially revealed the Season 2 roadmap for Battlefield 6 ahead of the February 17 content update release. Next season of Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in just a few days, and it looks like fans have a lot to look forward to, as the official roadmap reveals tons of new weapons, limited-time modes, maps, general improvements, and more.
After extending the game's first season by another four weeks, fans have been eager to see what developer Battlefield Studios has in store for the shooter's next big content update. Late last month, the team made the disappointing announcement that it had delayed the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 2, citing additional time needed to develop and refine the next season in response to community feedback. Season 1 was then extended with a new update that added new weekly challenges, a new bonus track, and a continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass. But with players patiently waiting to check out some new content, the studio has now revealed what to expect from Season 2.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Roadmap Revealed
After an unfortunate leak that saw the prematurely revealed new Battlefield 6 maps for Season 2 late last month, Battlefield Studios and publisher EA have now made things more official with the official roadmap for the shooter's second season, launching on February 17th. Battlefield 6 fans can look forward to a new map known as Contaminated, set on a German airbase in the European mountainside. With rocky terrain, Contaminated falls between Eastwood and Mirak Valley in terms of size and is comparable to classic Battlefield maps like St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 or Arras from Battlefield 5.
Season 2 will also see the debut of the VL-7 Strike, a new limited-time event that will see clouds of a new psychoactive smoke infiltrate various areas of Multiplayer for a limited time, resulting from NATO's attack on the Pax Armata. Battlefield Studios says the VL-7 smoke does no harm to players, but it induces a hallucinatory effect that will cause any soldier to charge into it without a mask, allowing for unique strategic decisions that create new paths to victory. VL-7 Strike will be a limited time event that will receive its own dedicated playlist, which will also feature the game's newest map, Contaminated.
For those who are fans of Battlefield 6s free-to-play battle royale title, REDSECSeason 2 will introduce tons of new content to check out. The aforementioned VL-7 psychoactive smoke will also make its way to REDSEC as part of two new limited-time game modes: Gauntlet Altered State and Synthesis. The former of the two is a killer knockout-style elimination mode with new smoke features where groups must race to complete missions while navigating the disorienting effects. As for Synthesis, this Battle Royale mode will give players the opportunity to find or earn the new VL-7 Strike Package, which is similar to calling in a smoke or mortar attack. Battlefield Studios says that VL-7 smoke can seep out from specific areas where synthesis went awry, and that these leaks are tied to high-value loot.
In addition to new content, Season 2 will also introduce some pretty significant improvements and fixes Battlefield 6. The studio says that the recoil compensation has been made fully consistent, resulting in more predictable and reliable weapon handling and soldier movementhas been improved to feel more predictable and readable in fast-paced battles. There will also be changes to the audio, as the team says it has improved clarity and reliability during matches.
