Battlefield 6 maps are among the smallest in the series

The sentiment surrounding Battlefield 6 changed drastically when season one launched. It had a very successful beta, with an even bigger launch. As Dice revealed, this entry returned to its roots, and fans were happy about it. But the season one update brought a robust and in-your-face monetization system that has left many fans feeling betrayed, especially since it wasn't there at launch.

While the developers have tweaked the light skins, the original complaint about the maps being too small has still not been addressed. Of course, adding new maps is much more complicated than tweaking skin colors, but players hope Dice will announce a bigger map soon. Meanwhile, someone has compared maps from across the series to determine that Battlefield 6 has the small ones.

Battlefield 6 Maps cover the smallest area in the entire franchise

Redditor ClaraTheRed has created a comprehensive breakdown of the square kilometers covered by each map in the series from Battlefield 3 onwards. Based on their findings, it looks like Battlefield 6 may have the smallest square kilometer coverage, with Battlefield 3 unsurprisingly having the largest.

Only the Bandar Desert map from Battlefield 3 surpasses the 2 square kilometer mark. Battlefield 4's Paracel Storm surpasses the 1 square kilometer mark, but every other map is smaller. Battlefield Hardline (which no one considers a Battlefield game) and Battlefield 6 are the only ones that don't have a single map over 0.5 square kilometers.

Even in the first image that shows you a scaled version of each map, Battlefield 6 has the smallest compared to other numbered entries. ClaraTheRed admitted that they didn't have time to include games earlier than Battlefield 3, but it hardly would have made a difference.

The backs of these smaller maps are more detailed than ever before, but it seems like fans wouldn't have minded trading some of that detail for more square footage.
