Battlefield 6 just announced a game mode called Casual Breakthrough, and it's available from the main menu right now. For players who want to raise their level Battlefield 6 battle passes, weapons and profiles, this mode can be a good alternative to regular matches.

One of many Battlefield 6 Controversy of late has been a major nerve for Portal XP after Battlefield Studios had promised that player-created experiences would provide full experience points. This went back as a result of many XP farm lobbies where players battled bots for full XP, and has been a consistent discussion among fans ever since. For some players, Battlefield 6 multiplayer matches can become too intense and stressful due to the game's many short maps, and bot lobbies have been a way to have a more relaxed gameplay while progressing.

While there have been workarounds for this, such as players turning off crossplay to regularly enter bot matches where they can still progress, Battlefield Studios has clearly recognized the desire for less intense gameplay. The new Casual Breakthrough game mode was detailed on X, described as “a more relaxing way to play while earning progression and completing challenges.” It offers the following features:

  • Smaller player teams with 8 real players on each side.

  • Teams filled primarily with bots, with 16 bots on each side.

  • Full progression, with players who can grind out hard Battlefield 6 class challenges while earning weapon, profile and battle pass XP.

  • “Balanced XP”, which gives full XP for killing one of the 8 real players and reduced XP for killing one of the 16 bots.

  • Two maps, they are Siege of Cairo and Empire State.

Will Battlefield 6's Casual Breakthrough Mode Succeed?

While the mode is undoubtedly a great addition that can serve as a solid option for fans looking for a more relaxing shooter, it's unlikely to be enough to satisfy all players upset about the portal changes. For starters, the mode being limited to just two of the game's 10 maps could see it grow stale sooner rather than later, though BF Studios has seemingly teased additional maps for Casual Breakthrough by describing Siege of Cairo and Empire State as the “introductory” maps. Also, fans of other game modes like Escalation and Conquest are still in need of a playlist like this one. Players have pointed out Battlefield 2042s option to play co-op with friends against a team full of bots as something that would be perfect.

A key factor that will determine the mode's success will be how much XP is dropped to eliminate bots. There has also been some pushback from players who don't want to see bots in Battlefield 6 at all, while the clamor for more closed-gun playlists continues. Regardless, those looking for one Titanfall-as Battlefield match will want to give Casual Breakthrough a try.
