Battlefield 6 has a new best sniper

Battlefield 6 Season one releases on October 28th, and after some hands-on time with the new additions on the way, it's clear that DICE and Battlefield Studios came to play with their new additions to the arsenal. Phase one of the three-phase first season, called Rogue Ops, adds three new weapons for players to play with, and while each has its strengths, one will make recon players very happy. The new sniper rifle is coming Battlefield 6 Season one is about to be the best in the game.

One more tribute Battlefield 4s fastest bolt-action rifle, the Scout Elite, the Mini Scout Sniper Rifle is an even faster, even smaller weapon with just as much vitality for Recon looking to do some damage to an enemy back line. In fact, given the smaller map sizes in Battlefield 6it can be even stronger. However, that's just one of the reasons why the weapon seems to be winning big when it's released alongside season one.

Battlefield 6 is getting a new best sniper rifle

BF6's newest and best sniper rifle

The critical for Battlefield 6 players to notice when using the Mini Scout sniper is that it is fast in every way. It chambers quickly, reloads quickly, has a fast sighting speed and is more maneuverable than other rifles in its class. In theory, that speed comes at the expense of fire rate and damage, but for some reason that trade-off is completely negated in practice.

First, this low damage count does not apply to headshot damage, or at least not in the Season 1 preview. The two new maps were added Battlefield 6 Season one's are big, some of the biggest yet, but from all ranges the Mini Scout sniper got a headshot shot thanks to the same 1.75x multiplier as every other sniper. Plus, considering the target of most snipers Battlefield game is to catch headshots, the occasional body shot difference is completely negligible.

The mini scout has even more advantages

The other possible hangup with the Mini Scout is its bullet speed, but that's not really much of a hangup at all. It has a base cruise speed of 880 meters per second, which seems slow in a vacuum, but is actually the second fastest in the game, behind the M2010 ESR, Battlefield 6s standard sniper. Throw an extended barrel on it, and muzzle velocity becomes a non-issue.

Additionally, it has tighter recoil than any sniper in the game so far, a ten-round magazine, and a faster rate of fire. There is so much to like about this sniper; it's faster, lighter, just as deadly, and it works even better for Recon players who want to get in close. There's really only upside when it comes to the weapon itself, though Battlefield 6 gamers eagerly awaiting the release of season one should beware, as that doesn't mean it won't be a hassle in other ways.

The unknown variables surrounding Battlefield 6's mini scout

BF6 Season 1's Sniper Blueprints

A determining factor in the reception of this new weapon depends on how it ends up in the hands of the player. The playtest had the gun readily available with all accessories ready to go, but there is virtually zero chance it will be readily available day one with no restrictions. It's good in general, but unlocking weapons Battlefield 6 is not exactly a walk in the park, as anyone who has tried to unlock PSR may already know.

Battlefield 6 has already received a lot of criticism for how it handles weapon and gear unlocks and for how long the challenges are, so Mini Scout could fall victim to the same perceived issues. The lines are further blurred by the new Battlefield 6 Season's Battle Pass. While still not fully revealed, it will most likely include some or all of the blueprints available for the weapon.

Season One's new choice-based Battle Pass could also be how the base weapon itself is unlocked to begin with, which, as far as Battle Passes in other similar games go, wouldn't be unusual.

Mini Scout is sure to be the next meta choice for Recon players

Ultimately, the unanswered questions about how the Mini Scout will be unlocked likely aren't enough to slow the new weapon's momentum. The sniper weapon class i Battlefield 6 is short on options, so any news is good news when it comes to new additions. It also doesn't hurt that this particular addition looks set to be best in class, at least for the foreseeable future.
