Baldur's Gate 3's Jennifer English Says Soulframe Role Is Her 'Dream Part'

Jennifer English is currently enjoying her work as the darling of the video game industry. After crushing it as Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, fans are eagerly awaiting her appearance in Tides of Annihilation. However, it seems that English is happy about a completely different part.

The actress has the enviable reputation of only starring in bangers, although she has admitted to being in some not-so-great titles. However, playing a conflicted cultist and a reality-bending painter is not enough. She'll also be in Warframe developer Digital Extreme's upcoming MMO, Soulframe, which she says is her “dream part.”

Speaking to GamesRadar+ at The Golden Joystick Awards, English said she absolutely loved her role as Alora, Empress of Eldveil, in Soulframe. “Oh, my God, that's my dream part,” she said. “I play a fairy empress, and her morals are in line with nature itself.” To top it all off, she added, “I have a little Welsh accent, and I'm thrilled.”

While we don't have much information about Alora, English revealed earlier this month that she will be voicing the character, who speaks poetically in threes. Given that Soulframe is an MMO, she will likely be a central part of the story, and maybe even a quest giver of some sort. Given the popularity of English, Alora is unlikely to be a supporting character.

Clair Obscur's Jennifer English is right, Queer Joy is worth pursuing no matter the cost

After winning Best Performance at this year's Golden Joysticks, Jennifer English touched on the importance of queer joy in her life.

Since Baldur's Gate 3, English has become one of the most recognizable voices in the gaming industry. So much so that those playing Expedition 33 couldn't help but feel like it was Shadowheart yelling “Parry it!” whenever a Nevron got into a massive attack in the game. Of course, English's performances for both characters were otherwise very different.

Speaking of dream roles, English recently told TheGamer that if she were given the opportunity to create her dream project, it would be outside of the video game industry, in the form of a queer genre film. “I would definitely do some kind of queer genre film,” she said. “I'm not sure what, but I'd like to work with The Avengers of she, them, gay and allied. Something really inclusive and badass, and something that hasn't been done before.”
