Most of us put too much effort into gaining the approval of our Baldur's Gate 3 peers. Do something bad, Karlach and Gale will disapprove. Do something good, Astarion and Minthara will disapprove. There is no one size fits all. But if you're tired of the same old companions, a fan has been modified in such a way that everyone hates you from the start.
Redditor Pinch12 has written a script to drop everyone's approval rating to -50. This means that they will immediately hate you as soon as they meet you. There's no appeasing them or building trust when you're at that level; some companions will leave as soon as they meet you, while others will stay and consistently insult you.
Baldur's Hatred 3
“It's an absolute nightmare and every single one of your companions talks you through the entire game,” said the creator. “Shadowheart is particularly cruel with absolute ROASTS in sections of dialogue which is usually pretty standard for most of your companions regardless of approval. Wyll comes over to me in camp to talk sh**t with me and then leaves. It's absolute hell and I couldn't recommend it more.”
Honestly, it sounds like a fun way to brush things up if you're thinking of starting a new playthrough. Roleplaying as the most hated person on the Sword Coast can be entertaining, especially if your companions are simply insulting you every step of the way. There seems to be some really atrocious dialogue for when their approval goes so low.
It's not like Lae'zel had many kind words anyway, this mod would kick her meanness into overdrive. Shadowheart might not have nice things to say either, but I doubt that will stop most of you romancing her. In fact, some might even find her more attractive.
The part where Wyll makes a flamboyant entrance, dispatches some goblins and tells Tav to get out of his face sounds particularly funny. Who knows? When you kill Netherbrain and become the hero of Baldur's Gate, they may even start tolerating you.
