Ubisoft promised back in July that much requested improvements in Assassin's Creed shadows would be rolled out in early September. Just as Assassin's Creed fans began to get a little worried and questioned what exactly qualifies as “early September”, Ubisoft has dropped the patch notes, as promised, and the update will be applied today.
The largest takeaways from the 1.1.1 patch is the quality of life updates that the shadow players have been waiting for since its launch. The head of them is the ability to jump forward in time. Some measures in shadows, such as night attacks, can only be performed at certain times of the day, as the name implies.
Between the launch and now you have to wait for the sun to set aside these night attacks. That everything changes with today's update. You can now meditate with Naoe and Yasuke, and doing so will quickly move to sex, either AM or PM, depending on when you start meditating. No more waiting.

The other major is the ability to remove fog from the map. Once today's update has been applied, when you have found all the views in a region, the fog that covers the region's map will go away. Previously, players would need to explore areas to clear them by fog, with some areas that do not enable proper exploration. Between fog clearance and being able to speed up time, I can imagine that many people will return to shadows thanks to this update.
Your Nando must be at least level two to use the fast-forward-time function and level four if you want the ability to clear fog.
Today's update also comes with a coat and a cat. Not just any coat, but the coat synonymously with Assassins Creed's most iconic protagonist, Ezio. To get the coat, you must play through Project Sanctuary, a new project available via Animus Hub. The rewards that are unlocked by playing through the new project also includes an Eagle Head Kusarigama, a charm of the Firence Trinket, and best of all, a roofing animal that carries a matching Ezio coat.
Today's shadow update is a large one – anywhere between 12.94 GB and 42 GB, depending on your chosen platform – but there is a lot there. Even more than discussed above. All this seems to be things that will make shadows a much more fun game to play and maybe even pull in new players. It is not as if Shadows has struggled to this point, but with the latest Assassin's Creed game among the best-selling games in 2025.
