Ash's weakest Pokémon, ranked

The main character of the original Pokemon anime, Askketchummanaged to perform the monumental task of becoming a world champion, after many years of hard work and several crushing defeat. Because of this, he has obviously trained some really powerful Pokémon, such as Hans Charizard, Hans Lucario, his dragonite and countless more.

But not all were effective in battle, as the many others stopped being Surprisingly weakEspecially those who fulfilled a specific role within the story. As a result, the combat ability of some of Ash's Pokemon really left much to be desired, and the following eight are the most remarkable examples.

Totodil

He is funny and adorable, but not much more

Each Pokemon -fan remembers Ash's Totodil Because of his adorable appearance and lighter personality, but it is pretty much his contribution to Hans Johto team. Totodile was not very strong in the battle, especially compared to the water type that Ash had previously trained in the Kanto region, Hans Squirtle.

Totodile not only developed, which is already sufficient proof of how weak he is, but he never learned a strong water type movement and relied solely on the water gun during Ash's entire journey through the Johto region. While he managed to achieve his fair part of victories, he is still one of the most ineffective starters that Pokemon Ash has ever trained.

Oshawott

He's just going to be a stupid comic relief

Totodile is not the only water type start Pokemon in Ash's collection with a disappointing battle record, then Oshawott He caught in the Unova region is also quite notorious for how weak he was. Of course, this can be criticized for a single reason: he was specifically written to be a fun comic relief, instead of a real fighter like Krookodile or Pignitis.

Ash's Oshawott learned some powerful water type, such as hydropump or razor shell, but it was pretty much that. Since he did not have enough diversity in his moving pool and enough experience in battle, he ended up losing a surprising number of battles, not to mention that he could never develop into a dewott. Of course, many of Ash's Pokemon could be surprisingly strong without developing (like Pikachu or Bulbasaur), but Oshawott is definitely not one of them.

Lean

A newborn child with very inaccessible potential

As he travels through the Unova region, Ash Ketchum got a mysterious egg that eventually hatched into a Lean. For starters, this seemed to be a good complement to his team, especially if he could develop him into a powerful skating, but the young Pokemon ended up being a pretty disappointment.

Scraggy learned some strong features, such as Focus Blast or High Jump kick, but because of his young age it took him a lot of time to completely master them, not to mention that he never learned any dark types. He had the right attitude when it came to fight, but he could not achieve many victories, which explains why Ash only used him in a gymnastic battle. This is a real shame, because Scraggy had a lot of potential, and it would have been fantastic to see him develop into a screw.

FRorkoal

A crying bab that lost too many battles

Pokemon series: Ruby and Sapphire Did something completely outstanding: Instead of getting ASH capture and training a starting start (like Charizard or Cyndaquil), the prominent fire -type member of his team in the Hoenn region was a wild Pokémon. The only real problem is that the said pokemon was a FRorkoalthat is not very strong or impressive.

Of course, Ash's Torkoal lived up to a reputation for its species by participating in some really important struggles-like Battle Frontier or the semi-finals or Sinnoh League and lose quite a lot. He had some solid features at his disposal, such as the heat wave or overheating, but Torkoal's main question was his emotional and cowardly personality, which never allowed him to reach his full potential.

Palpitoad

He managed to lose against pokemon he had a type -advantage on

During Black and white Series, Ash did something odd but interesting: Instead of catching and using only five Pokémon for his team, he caught much more than that and rotated them around. Unfortunately, while this was a decent idea, it resulted in many of his team members being weak and underdeveloped, and there are no better examples of this than his Palpitoad.

Ash used palpitoad in two different gym battles, against Elesa and Roxie, but lost to their respective Pokemon even though they had an obvious type advantage. In addition, he was not used very often in the battle, and he did not learn any new features at all. Perhaps if he developed into a seismitoad, he could have become a real force to count on, but since he remained a weak palpitoad with very little experience, he ended up becoming one of the most forgetful Pokémon that Ash has ever captured and trained.

Aipom

She never really liked struggling

During Ruby & Sapphire Series, ash caught a mischievous little Aipom It had chased him around and tried to steal his hat on several occasions. Oddly enough, she was most interested in participating in Pokemon competitions, and she became so fond of Ash that she even followed him to the Sinnoh region.

After that, Aipom continued to participate in some other competitions before Ash traded her to Dawn for her Buizel. The fact that he never used her in any important Pokemon battles, combined with her enthusiasm for competitions, is sufficient proof of how ineffective Aipom was in battle, so it was a good idea to have her trading venues with Buizel, which was much stronger and liked to fight much more.

Butter -free

Ash's second pokemon was surprisingly weak

The box Butter -free Is among the most iconic characters in the entire show since he was the first Pokemon that the main character ever caught (and the second member of his team after Pikachu) which led to Ash forming a close band with him. But in reality, this butterfree was surprisingly weak and did not perform well in the battle.

When he struggled, he relied most on status movements such as string shots, sleep powder or stun spore, which were quite helpful, but he lacked any proper strength to properly knock out his opponents. Of course, Butterfree's disappointing performance can be explained by the fact that Ash was a beginner Pokemon coach at that time, and since he was released only twenty episodes later he could never be stronger as all other members of Ash's Kanto team.

Tauros (x29)

Twenty -nine pokemon he never used in battle

When Ash and his friends explored Kantos Safari zone, he accidentally caught several Tauros who repeatedly ran in front of their safari balls. Because of this funny situation, Ash ended with a crew of thirty different Tauros which he immediately had to send to Professor Oak's laboratory. He used only one of these tauros in many battles, and it turned out to be surprisingly strong, especially since it played a key role in the fighting against Drake the Orange League master and anable border brain.

But what about every other Tauros he caught? That's right, he never used any of them for a Pokemon fight, and thus they lived peacefully in the laboratory and stamped throughout open plains without care. While part of Ash's second Pokémon, such as his Butterfree or his Aipom, has proven to be quite weak, at least they had a certain fighting experience, and the same cannot be said of the remaining twenty -nine Tauros.
