The Batman: Arkham Franchise broke new ground for the superhero video game genre. For the most part, Batman: Arkham Asylum And its sequel struck a perfect balance between having founded stories, characters and action, while not being afraid to explore some of the more unclear parts of Caped Crusaders Rogue's Gallery. Last year Batman: Arkham Shadow Continued to build on that inheritance.
A prequel set six months after Batman: Arkham OriginsThe Batman: Arkham Shadow Seeing a Roger Craig Smith-voted Batman chasing down the hard-captured “Rat King.” Currently exclusive to Meta Quest 3 and 3s, Batman: Arkham Shadow delivers an extremely authentic Arkham Gameplay experience that takes full advantage of the new medium. Batman Arkhamverse is at a crossroads
Batman: Arkham Shadow Don't be the only game in Arkhamverse released last year. What was meant to be Rocksteady's triumphant return to the franchise ended in disaster, with last year Suicide group: Kill Justice League receives a notorious difficult reception from both fans and critics. Although there had some humorous moments and its battle could feel satisfactory under the right circumstances, Suicide group: Kill Justice League was far away Arkham Poster that came before it, with their live service model that affects the amount and type of content in the game.
Although many of Suicide group: Kill Justice LeagueControversial story decisions have just turned in the game's final season after launch, the game as a whole has left Arkhamverse on a little sour note. As things stand, fans probably won't complain to a sequel to Suicide group Anytime soon. But that is there Batman: Arkham Shadow May have just opened a new door.
Batman: Arkham Shadow could only be the beginning
When Batman: Arkham Shadow It was first announced, many fans were disappointed that Arkhamverse next post would be VR exclusive and even worse, one that was exclusive to just a VR platform. But despite this first backlash, and although VR is still a relatively niche part of the gaming industry, it has only been confirmed Batman: Arkham Shadow Has sold over 1 million copies, with over 1 million players who have unlocked the game's first performance (an achievement first discovered by Youtuber Questwithmatt).
1 million copies sold is quite far from Batman: Arkham Knight and OriginBoth are said to sell about 7 million each. And it is far away from Batman: Arkham Asylum and Citywhich sold 10 million and 14 million respectively. But when it comes to the VR market, 1 million sold copies are an impressive milestone.
2020 Halving: Alyx is probably the most appropriate comparison for Arkham Shadows Sales Number. Both games marked the return of large game franchisees, and both games were used to sell shiny new headsets (Valve Index and Meta Quest 3/3S). In December 2020, 9 months after it was released, Halving: Alyx had sold 2 million copies. Arkham Shadow Has sold 1 million in just over 3 months.
So, although it may not be as immediately successful as its flat screen counterparts, Batman: Arkham Shadow Still forming to be a new win for the franchise. And it may be enough to persuade bros/DC to continue exploring Arkhamverse in Spinoffs as Shadow. The first step for Warner Bros. should quickly track a sequel to Batman: Arkham ShadowBecause the game leaves plenty of room for future items, especially after the latest release of its Dick Grayson-focused post-credits Epilogue.
