ARC Raiders has been a huge success for Embark Studios and the company wants to capitalize on the unique play styles of its massive player base by asking for feedback on the current in-game maps. Only been out for 6 weeks so far, ARC Raiders has left a big impression on players, including many who may not be too keen on the extraction genre that the game currently occupies. For many live service titles, player feedback is a critical component, and Embark now wants to hear from its players.
Even if ARC Raiders has only been available for a short time, Embark has continued to keep the game updated with new content and fixes for various issues. In just the second week of the game, Embark started a big donation event for the community ARC Raiderswhere players could donate common materials to ultimately help unlock the new Stella Montis map, one that has proven to be quite different from the other maps in the game, thanks in large part to being indoors and a haven for PvP battles.
ARC Raiders just confirmed when the next big update is coming, and I think it could be a game changer
ARC Raider's Cold Snap update introduces new weather, content, and progression choices that can change how players approach the first expedition.
ARC Raiders wants to hear from you!
In a recent post, Embark Studios put out a call to action for its community, asking for feedback and general opinions on what they think of the game as a whole. Players can participate in a survey centered around the maps in ARC Raiders and how often players engage in specific playstyles, such as being stealthy, engaging in PvP, focusing solely on loot, trying to be social, or lying in wait to ambush unsuspecting players.
For many players, this is also the chance to give Embark their opinions on each of the maps in the game so far. Players will have the option to rank and give opinions on each of the maps currently available, whether they are liked, neutral or disliked. Embark hopes this data can help the company shape future content and design based on the responses of its community. Interestingly, some players report that the survey suddenly ends early with a “maximum number of responses” message. At the time of publication, Embark has yet to comment on the potential issue.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind before attempting this survey. In order to participate, Embark indicates that players must have played on every map in the game so far, including the latest one in Stella Montis. Players will also need to log in with their Embark ID, which not only makes the survey specific to them and them alone, it also means that the system will know if the player attempting to participate in the survey has qualified by meeting the requirements.
ARC Raiders had a longer-than-expected development cycle, originally revealed all the way back in 2021 as a co-op shooter where players work together to overcome enemy machines called bows. After Embark struggled to essentially find the fun on a consistent basis, the game rebooted to become a PvPvE extraction shooter, with many elements of the previous build being converted to fit the current style. A ARC Raiders behind the scenes video series gave a little more context behind some of the decisions made during the game's long development.
Part of that transition process surrounded the game's maps. Spaceport and Dam Battlegrounds were two locations that existed and were previously made for the original vision of ARC Raiderswhich is why they look and play a little differently than the other maps. The newer maps, specifically Blue Gate, Buried City, and Stella Montis, were created after the big gameplay shift to being an extraction game, which is why many see them as slightly more PvP friendly maps.
