Arc Raider's big progression wipe is only ten days away and players are still not sure if they should go ahead with the optional progression flush. Labeled as the Expedition Project, this system is just like any other multiplayer progression wipe, but has a little narrative to it. Its main purpose is to appeal to those who want progression wipes as well as those who don't.

Players will lose weapons, items, levels, skills and crafting abilities in exchange for permanent account unlocks and unique cosmetics for each completed expedition. Those who choose to go on expeditions will also receive “account buffer” throughout, but the developers have made sure that this does not give them an advantage over others. However, players feel that this is not enough information to help them decide whether or not to delete their progress.

Should you choose to wipe your progress in Arc Raiders?

A number of players have debated whether the progression wipe will be worth it. While Embark Studios has pretty much revealed what will happen if you choose to delete your progress, it's not nearly as detailed as they'd like. Many people worry that they might make the wrong decision. I don't blame you if you're unsure, it took me a long time to build my loot.

Arc Raiders should have at least been nominated for this GOTY category

Arc Raider's sound design is fantastic, and it's a real shame it didn't get a nod at this year's Game Awards.

“Seriously? We're 10 days out of drying, and it's total radio silence from Embark,” says a Reddit post by Flumingo1990. “We still have zero information on the size of the inventory increase, the item requirements for the 5 skill reward, or the mechanics behind 'increased repair efficiency.'

Here are the incentives that Embark currently has posted for the progress cleanup:

  • Permanent account unlocks for each completed expedition

  • Unique cosmetic rewards for each completed expedition

  • Account “buffs” applied for the duration of the following expedition cycle

  • And sequential completions of the Expedition Project increase the magnitude of these buffs, up to a limit.

We still have no idea what “buffs” are. Hopefully, the developers will clarify the decision with more information about them and about the expedition project soon.
