Queens and Matriarchs are currently the toughest enemies you will face in Arc Raiders. Your team must coordinate not only with each other, but several others as well if you want to take down these titanic bows and get their valuable parts. However, it seems society does this a little too well resulting in Queens biting the dust within minutes.
Entire lobbies sometimes coordinate attacks and strategize to take down these bosses, making the toughest enemies in the game an absolute cakewalk. But you may have noticed that not everyone gets an equal share of the rewards, even if they tried. It seems because the developers did not expect this level of coordination.
Raiders cooperate a little too much
Speaking to PC Gamer, Arc Raider's design director Virgil Watkins said that Embark never envisioned entire lobbies achieving this level of cooperation. They expected a bit more chaos and PvP play, which resulted in far fewer players coming out at the end of a queen or matriarch battle. That is why the change is not enough for everyone.
“Even if [Queens and Matriarchs are] huge and deadly, they are not meant for the entire server to go against and be equally rewarded. It's meant to be, you know, a couple of dedicated squads, maybe working together while also dealing with other players,” Watkins said. “It's definitely on us to some extent… I think we gave players too effective abilities to take those things down too early. So they were more tuned for what I would call mid-game gear.”
The developers have previously said that they never expected the amount of cooperation that the game has seen, especially the so-called “carebear lobbies”. But since the community has decided how it wants to play, maybe the developers will make some difficulty or change changes to the Queen and Matriarch battles.
