This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
The One Piece The anime is about to reach the end of the Egghead arc, and fans couldn't be more excited. The last episodes of the arc have been intense and full of tension. Over the past few episodes, it's become increasingly clear that the Straw Hats don't have what it takes to stop the Five Elders from running out. In fact, Luffy and his crew needed the help of the Giant Warrior Pirates to survive, but they couldn't hold them back for long either. Fortunately, there was one individual who marched to help the Straw Hats, and it was none other than Emet.
One Piece: Joy Boy is the first pirate in the story, but 1 pirate can be even stronger
Joy Boy is strong, but there is a pirate with even better haki in One Piece.
For the majority of the arc, Emet seemed like nothing more than a relic of a bygone era, but now there has been a massive shift in fan opinion. IN One Piece Episode 1151, Emet emerged from the sea and stopped Topman Warcury in his tracks. Emet delivered a powerful blow that sent Gorosei towards the island. Emet's actions prevented the Warcury from destroying the ship by the Giant Warrior Pirates.
Emet knew Joyboy and was his friend
When Emet emerged from the water, he uttered the name “Joyboy”. The special name has been mentioned several times in the story, but for fans he remains a mysterious character. In the episode, a voice could be heard talking to Emet. It is likely that the voice belonged to Joyboy, who advised Emet to wait until the time was right.
Based on the interaction, there's no way to tell what Joyboy might mean by “when the time is right.” This could mean that Emet had to remain dormant or hidden until it was finally time to strike. Fans don't have to think too much about that though, as the upcoming episode will confirm what Joyboy wanted Emet to do.
Joyboy will make a one-shot appearance in episode 1153
Joyboy will finally appear in episode 1153

Joyboy has yet to make a proper appearance in the story

Emet knows Joyboy
It is confirmed that the legendary Joyboy will appear in One Piece Episode 1153. Joyboy is a key figure from the Void Century, who was involved in the war against the Twenty Nations. Vegapunk called Joyboy the first pirate in the sense that he was the first to rebel against the alliance that would go on to form the current world government. Since the organization regards Joyboy as an enemy, it has erased almost all traces of his existence. Despite their best efforts, Joyboy's name still lives on.
Listen, Emet…Only when the time is right. – Joyboy
In episode 1152, Joyboy will talk to Emet, which means fans will finally learn why the former asked the giant robot to wait for the right moment. Joyboy kept his Haki in a knot, knowing it would come in handy in a sticky situation. Emet will likely use the weapon to save Luffy from the Five Elders. It thinks Luffy is Joyboy because both share a similar Devil Fruit. In fact, it's the sound of Luffy's heartbeat that woke Emet from his slumber.
Joyboy is the strongest character in a play
Joyboy's Haki is stronger than anyone else's
There are heavy spoilers beyond this point, so fans should read on at their own discretion. Fans who have read the manga are aware of Joyboy's immense strength, and they know that his Haki is arguably the strongest in One Piece. When Emet finally meets the Five Elders in episode 1153, it will untie the knot containing Joyboy's Haki. When the knot is opened, the stored Haki will be released, and it will overpower the five elders. In fact, four of the five will be sent back to Marijoa. Haki's strength sent shivers down Imu's spine, and they even remembered that it belonged to Joyboy.
Considering that Joyboy's Haki overwhelmed the five elders, it becomes pretty obvious that he is the strongest character in One Piece. Each member of the quintet is easily on par with Yonko, and Joyboy's Haki took out four of them. It's a clear indicator of how superior Joyboy is compared to the rest of the fighters in One Piece. Unfortunately, Joyboy's cameo in the next episode will be extremely limited. So fans won't be able to learn more about the legendary figure. Once the episode is over, the Egghead arc will come to a close. Normally, the end of the arc is exciting because it means the Straw Hats are off on a new adventure. But this time it will be different.
One Piece Anime goes on hiatus
One Piece fans may have already forgotten that the anime goes on hiatus after the Egghead arc ends. It has already been confirmed that the anime will be seasonal and as a result will be on hiatus from January 2026 to April 2026. The decision to turn One Piece into a seasonal anime has been well received by fans. They know that the staff at Toei Animation have been working hard on every episode, so they deserve to rest. The anime will release 26 episodes in one year, and they will be split into two runs, meaning each will have 13 episodes.
