A Valheim player builds dollar generals and chili restaurants in the game

A dedicated one Valheim the player has taken it upon himself to build Dollar General stores and Chili's restaurants in the game, with some hilarious results. The player has also built in various other food chains and stores Valheimgiving a hint of the real world in Iron Gate Studios' survival title.

Valheim launched in Early Access in 2021, with a suite of building features that allow players to build structures and bases across the game world. These features have a low floor, meaning any player can jump in and put together a solid Valheim base. Likewise, they also have a high ceiling, so players who want to master building in Valheim and creating something truly impressive can take time to do so. As with all tools like these, Valheim players have always gone beyond their creations. Recently, a Valheim the player added a giant fire escape to a sealed tower, which offers tons of utility and looks cool. It's always interesting to see what's more creative Valheim the players do with the tools at their disposal.

A Valheim skill is not for everyone

While many playstyles are viable in Valheim, one particular skill is often overlooked by most players in favor of more convenient options.

Valheim Player builds various shops and restaurants in the game

X-user Greg the Sorcerer sparked a lot of discussion online after sharing their impressive Valheim recreation of a Chili's restaurant in the game. According to the player, after being annoyed by a group of trolls, they “destroyed their village and turned it into a chili.” They also revealed their in-game version of a Dollar General, creating it because “the natural beauty of this place disgusted me.” Both are eerily accurate, and Greg the Sorcerer has even managed to recreate both chains' logos in their Valheim build. Both posts went viral on X, with Chili's and Dollar General attracting over 66,000 and 17,000 likes, respectively.

In follow-up responses, Greg the Sorcerer revealed that he doesn't stop at Chili's and Dollar General. He's also placed a T-Mobile store right next to Dollar General, signaling the start of a full retail park built in Valheim at this time. In addition to the Chili's restaurant, Greg the Sorcerer has built a Waffle House and a McDonald's, taking the liberty of building the base in Valheim to new heights. Although the player doesn't show them in their posts, all the buildings seem to have detailed interiors, so it would be very interesting to see what they look like on the inside as well.

Others in the answers had even more suggestions for Greg the Sorcerer to build in the future. One player said: “Walmart when?” while another claimed, “You need a Wendy's for the “Sir, this is Wendy's” memes.” It's not clear if the player plans to build even more stores and restaurants in the future, but if they do, hopefully they'll choose to keep sharing them with the world, because it's a super fun concept executed so well.

Since it's still in Early Access, there's still plenty for it Valheim fans to look forward to in the coming months. It was revealed last year Valheim is finally coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026, finally bringing the PC and Xbox console exclusively to Sony's platform. As of the last developer update in November, Iron Gate Studio confirmed that there are plans to bring a few more building blocks to the game, which should expand what's possible for creative builders in the game.
