Players hoping to earn some extra cash in-game can easily do so by watching select Twitch streamers play GTA 5. The game currently has a partnership with Twitch, and all players need to do is put in a few hours to get everything. Watching for one hour will reward players with $200,000 of in-game GTA$, two hours adds another $300,000 and three hours unlocks the Street Samurai Livery. The campaign started on February 26 and will run until March 4 at 02.59 Pacific Time. However, there is a slight catch: players must watch participating Japanese streamers to earn GTA online money.

Players can easily access participating streams by logging into their Twitch account and going to the Drops and Rewards page. From there, scroll down or do a search for Grand Theft Auto V. The list should show a “Japan Community Series” and list the rewards mentioned earlier. Twitch will display a series of participating channels, and a “more” link that will run a search for all Japanese-language channels playing GTA 5.

Players will also need to connect their Twitch and Rockstar Games accounts if they haven't already, which can be done from the same page. Players are given a grace period of 14 days after earning drops to link their accounts. Once Twitch Drops are earned, players must go to their Drops Inventory page and select “Claim Now” to send the reward to their account. However, players should also be aware that it can take up to three days for the earned drops to appear in-game.

Given the time difference between the US and Japan, players may initially not see any available streams to watch. To get the drops, it may be necessary to stream Twitch in the middle of the night in the player's local time zone. For example, participating streamers Middleeetv and たここちゃん (Takokochan) most recently streamed GTA 5 at 1 and 2 am Pacific Time, respectively. However, players don't have to watch for three hours straight and can split the streaming across multiple channels if needed.

There are plenty of things to spend $500,000 on GTA onlineincluding the fairly recent additions of Mansions to the game. Mansions start at $11,500,000 in game, so $500,000 won't go very far, but is a step in the right direction. These Mansions also unlock an exclusive quest with GTA 5 the main character Michael, who fans have been hoping to see in the online component of the game for years. Those still strapped for cash might want to check out the weekly bonuses, which run for the same time period as the Twitch promotion. Drift Races offer 3x the usual amount of GTA$, Motorcycle Club Weed Sell missions earn 2x the usual amount, and Exotic Exports can be sold for 4x the usual amount. Additionally, with Auto Shops, they can complete any heist contract to earn a one-time bonus of GTA$300,000.
