According to a new report from Bloomberg, Bluepoint Games set a Blood borne remake, but FromSoftware ultimately said no. Blood borne is one of the highest rated games of all time and is widely considered to be one of the best games ever released for the PlayStation 4. Backwards compatibility makes it playable on PS5 consoles, but otherwise, Blood borne is effectively trapped on the PS4, despite being a commercial and critical success.
With all kinds of PlayStation-published games making the jump to the PlayStation 5 and other platforms over the years, there has been a lot of demand for Blood borne to receive the same treatment. As one of the only FromSoftware games not on PC, PC gamers in particular have been clamoring for one Blood borne port. PS5 players have been hoping to see one Blood borne remaster, and rumors have circulated over the years that such a project has at least been considered. As it happens, Bluepoint Games apparently fielded one Blood borne a remake of its own, only for it to be rejected by FromSoftware.
8 Scariest Monsters in Bloodborne, Ranked
Bloodborne has no shortage of hideous monsters and terrifying bosses, but what follows is unparalleled in terms of fear.
Bloodborne Remake was launched by Bluepoint
A new report from Bloomberg covers Sony's recent decision to shut down Bluepoint Games. The report states that Bluepoint actually hit one Blood borne remake, and while Sony was apparently on board with the project, FromSoftware “didn't want it to happen.” The same Bloomberg report points to Kinda Funny's interview with Shuhei Yoshida, where the former PlayStation executive theorized that Blood borne director Hidetaka Miyazaki might be interested in making a remake of the game himself, but is too busy with other projects and doesn't want anyone else to touch it.
Miyazaki is the acclaimed director behind it Blood borne, Dark souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Fire Ringand various other FromSoftware titles. Currently, Miyazaki is leading the development of an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 game called Duskbloods which definitely shares some of Blood bornes DNA. Duskbloods uses a similar gothic horror art style, but has a focus on multiplayer as Blood borne not.

The Bloomberg report goes on to name other projects that Bluepoint tried to pitch to Sony after its live service The God of War the project was cancelled. With Blood borne remake pitch rejected, Bluepoint tried to pitch a PS5 version of Shadow of the Colossus and a Ghost of Tsushima spin-off, both to no avail. Eventually, Bluepoint Games was shut down.
Blood borne fans dying for a remake of the classic game will no doubt be disappointed by this news, as will any fans of Bluepoint's work who wanted to see the studio continue to put out games. After all, Bluepoint has remade FromSoftware titles before, with Demon's Souls remake serves as a visually stunning launch title for Sony's PlayStation 5.
About Miyazaki actually do want to make one Blood borne remake itself, but perhaps there is still hope for the game to make a comeback sometime down the line. Miyazaki is currently busy with Duskbloodsbut we have no idea what project he will tackle next. It is possible that Miyazaki will make one Blood borne remake next, or maybe he'll work on a completely original IP. Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see what comes next from FromSoftware.
