A bit: strongest Garp students, ranked

This list contains spoilers for everyone a bit.

Summary

  • Garp's students, such as Helmeppo and Koby, grow into power plants after enduring intensive training.

  • Ace's strength derives from Garp's brutal training and his Flame Flame Fruit, even though he chose piracy.

  • Aokiji's training with Garp focused on physical ability, which made him one of the most sustainable fighters.

Monkey D. Garp is one of the strongest characters in all A bitWhich really says something considering caliber by powerful individuals who have emerged during history. Marine's hero may not be as proactive today as he was back in his premiere, but he has still taken it on himself to share his skills and talents with several students, even though they would not all become marine soldiers.

Under the Egghead Island bow of A bitFans could get a clear picture of how extremely powerful this navy really is after decimating an entire island with a single punch. Of course, everyone who has the honor of training under Garp will inevitably grow into an absolute power plant by putting in hard work and effort, but when looking at overall strength and performance within the series, it is how all Garp's students stack against each other.

Helmeppo

Helmeppo rose through marine rankings thanks to Garp

  • First appearance: Section 2

Unlike his partner Koby, Helmeppo has only received a short amount of screen time so far in the story, which can make it a little difficult to determine how strong he really is. With that said, but after training with Garp enough, he was able to reach the position as a lieutenant commander in just a handful of years, and given that he could keep up with Koby when they traveled to the new world, it is clear as the day that he has become much stronger since he first appeared in the series.

In fact, Helmeppo could even hold his own against a whole pirate crew and come out the victory, which proved that he is much more than a simple cruel in the Navy's regiment. While he is clearly not as close as formidable as Garp's other students, Helmeppo still deserves some credit as someone who conducted Garp's brutal training regime and came out on the other side of another man.

Port gas D. Ace

Ace learned to survive and use his talents for good use

  • First appearance: Section 91

Garp took ESS from an early age due to a promise he gave with his father, the notorious Gol D. Roger, which Garp had a rather complicated relationship with Back when the Pirate King was still there. Like someone who always had a goal on his back, Ace was forced to take care of himself so much of his life, but it was Garp who taught him to go to achieve this by putting him through an extremely dangerous training record. In Flashbacks it has been shown that Garp had no quarrels about testing Ace's strength and durability by attacking him with his deadly fist of love or teaching him the importance of filling food before a struggle.

It may not have been a very pleasant upbringing, but Garp's attempt to shape ace into a perfect navy ended up in the end him much stronger, even though he decided to be pirated instead. It is also important to remember that much of Ace's strength comes from his fire fruit, which is considered to be one of the best offensive fruits in the series, although he even as a hand-to-hand-fighting, he still turned out to be extremely dangerous, and much of it is thanks to his legendary mentor, Garp.

3

Koby

Koby has been able to mimic some of Garp's strongest abilities

  • First look: section 1

It is honestly difficult to remember a time when Koby was a little more than a scared and shy case boy, given that he is today an extremely powerful navy that is so strong that he could even replicate some of Garp's features. The prime example of this, and the clearest indication of Koby's underlying strength, is when he released the devastating honesty effect at Pizarro, which was melted with an entire island at that time.

Koby was able to decimate Pizarro's arms and finally destroy him from the inside out, and although this is far from Garp's galaxy, the fact that Koby can even mimic the technology how far he has come. It seems that the marine soldiers who have also acknowledged Koby's strength, because he has served a position in the undercover host group, and was also sent to capture Boa Hancock after the abolition of the warlords, which is a mission that is not only distributed to your average marine.

2

Aokiji

Although he is in violation of Garp, Aokiji always respects him as a teacher

  • First appearance: section 227

While Aokiji and Garp may not see eye to eye in the story in question, given that the former is now a member of the BlackBeard Pirates, there is obviously still a level of respect between the two because of the time they spent together as a teacher and student. When Aokiji still learned the ropes like a navy, Garp decided to take him under his wing. Garps go-to-method for training Aokiji was by using battleship bags, which he would have Aokiji to destroy only his fists, without relying on his ice skills or any form of Haki.

Given the large number of characters in A bit which relies so heavily on its devil fruits, this was a smart way for Garp to encourage Aokiji to first focus on his physical ability, and that is a big reason why he is considered so sustainable in the main history. On the current day, Aokiji is one of the most dangerous pirates out there, even manage to stand and stand against Akainu, even though he came out the loser. Luffy and the straw hats were forced to admit Aokiji's strength from first when they met him back on Long Ring Long Island, so it is interesting to think about how they would do to him today, given that they are all much stronger than before.

Monkey D. Luffy

Garp could never have expected Luffy to be a Yonko when he was still a young boy

  • First look: section 1

Luffy has actually had several teachers throughout A bit story, but it was Garp who first fulfilled this position when Luffy was still a boy. Like Ace, Garp's method of training Luffy was not exactly so humane, as he would often make him survive in a dark and dense jungle, surrounded by violent animals. But thankfully, this ended by giving Luffy's confidence that he needed to take care of himself when he was out on the open sea, and despite Garp's desire for Luffy to become a navy, he could never have expected his picking young student to actually continue to become a Yonko instead.

Luffy has taken down a number of tough opponents during the series, including several warlords, and even Kaido himself, after Luffy was able to wake his Gear 5 technology. In the latest arches he has been able to meet Admirals without even breaking sweat, to the point where some characters even see Him as a god given his overwhelming levels of power. One thing is certain – Garp made the right decision to start training Luffy when he did, because he effectively kicked off the boy's adventure to become not only a large pirate, but also a liberator in the world.
