Save your ultimate for aggressive plays and counters
Don't hoard Ultimates, but don't waste them either
Strategist Ultimates is all about the preservation and safety of your team. A strategist's Ultimate should be used in the most effective way, and not just because the strategist felt like it or wanted to save his own skin. A successful Ultimate is one that counters the other team's Ultimate to cause a stalemate, or one that allows teams to mount an aggressive push to gain the advantage.
Saving an Ultimate for the right time is all well and good until that moment has come and gone and it doesn't come back. Players need to know when to use their Ultimate, and understand that most Strategist Ultimates are best reserved for when the team is together and ready to make a power play for the goal.

Always in motion
Stay mobile to avoid becoming an easy target
As a strategist, you will become the main target of the enemy team. After all, a strategist is responsible for keeping his team alive, so why wouldn't the enemy team make a push for the mean player? To try and stay alive, focus on moving, as it may be easier to target other heroes to heal them when they're standing still, but it will also make you an easy target.

Marvel Rivals: 14 characters with the most health, ranked
Those looking to stay alive in Marvel Rivals should give these characters a try, as they come with some of the biggest health pools in the game.
Players should actively avoid staying still, as enemies with ranged attacks, such as Hela and Hawkeye, can easily change how the game is played just by getting a lucky headshot. Stay mobile and keep your feet moving so the strategist has a harder time getting hit.

Stay in the back line
Follow the team, but use them as meat shields
Vanguards and Duelists will be the ones taking the hits, and as such it's a strategist's job to heal them back to form. To effectively do this, stay behind them so they can act as both a shield, a sword, and a respectable defensive wall so the enemy team can't pressure the strategist to kill them and remove an effective member of the team.
The healer and strategist should never be on the front lines trying to take the most damage or get the most kills, and they should always poke out behind their team so they have flesh shields in front of them to heal.

Don't be afraid of Pocket-Heal
Know when to heal the right players for the best plays
Pocket-healing is a common term for Hero Shooters when a healer decides to focus on keeping one player alive instead of the whole team. While not really a thing players should do as a strategist, it does have its moments.

Marvel Rivals: Best Duo Team Ups, Ranked
From Hulk & Wolverine's Fastball Special to Fantastic Four's team fandom, each team offers unique gameplay and a good time.
Sometimes a player can be overly aggressive, but making the right plays and kills that keep them alive is crucial. Other times, pocket-healing someone within their Ultimate is extremely important, as keeping someone like a Punisher alive during their Ultimate can be the play the game needs to get a team wipe.

With 8 strategists in season 1 of Marvel Rivalsplayers have a fairly diverse selection of heroes to choose from that can complement the way they play. If players want a healer that is more focused on healing and less on damage, then Rocket Raccoon is the choice. Or, a hero that can make an even stack of both, players might want to try Invisible Woman.
It's always worth trying Practice vs. AI or Practice Range to try out different strategies until players are convinced they want to jump into Quick Play or Competitive as the strategy of their choice. After all, each character has their own abilities and Ultimates, so knowing them all and their Team-Ups will benefit all heroes.

Healing is always more important than elimination and assistance
Keep the team alive for everyone's glory, not just yourself
Sure, everyone wants to gloat about being the MVP, but it's often the quiet heroes who deserve the most appreciation. Strategists aren't likely to get MVP due to the fact that they need to focus more on healing than damage, but that doesn't mean players should sacrifice their own team just in an effort to get the most damage and kills.
Strategists need to understand that their role is to heal, and while they can deal some effective and lethal damage, it's important to keep the team alive first and shoot enemies later. More healing given to the team means better play, which means it's even easier to pressure other teams and get a little aggressive in terms of damage and assists. Seeking independent glory as a strategist just means nobody wins.

Sometimes it's okay to let teammates die
A flanking duelist's selfish play can result in a domino effect of death
There are plenty of aggressive duelists who seek personal glory through flanking and various attack methods away from their own team. Leave these players to their own devices where fate will seek them out in the next revival. Trying to follow into battle with a duelist who only seeks personal gain and refuses to go into the backline to heal should not be the strategist's responsibility.
It's important to understand that sometimes a hero on your team has to die to save others, and even yourself. These players may not learn from their mistakes, but you can, and the most effective strategist is one who will keep the team alive without having to run in as a babysitter for an overly aggressive Spider-Man or Wolverine.
