Being one of the fan favorite characters since Honkai Star RailUpon release, Tingyun joins the roster as a 5-star Nihility character under the name Fugue, following a trend similar to Dan Heng's transformation into Imbibitor Lunae or the upcoming alternate version of Herta. While Fugue has changed paths and elements, she retains a relatively support-oriented role, although this time she caters more to Break DMG-oriented teams involving characters like Firefly, Rappa, or Boothill. This change makes her build fundamentally different from other Fire Nihility units like Jiaoqiu or Guinaifen, who have different roles within team compositions.

7 Best JRPGs where you level up attacks and skills, ranked
Leveling up characters is a key component of most JRPGs that reward players the more they grind and improve character customization.
This difference is also evident in her light cone options, as Fugue benefits from a unique, if somewhat limited, selection of choices. Fortunately, players will find that some available F2P options fit her needs well, making it possible to build her effectively without necessarily relying on her signature light cone in Honkai: Star Rail.

Increases the wearer's effect hit rate by 40%. When the wearer attacks enemies that have reduced DEF, 8 Energy is regenerated. |
||
Effect Hit Rate isn't as critical for Fugue as it is for some other characters, but maintaining around 60-70% Effect Hit Rate is still valuable to ensure she can reliably apply DEF reduction to high level enemies . For players looking for a fully F2P option, Before the supervision assignment begins is a great choice for those who don't want to invest heavily in Fugue, while avoiding the need to equip a capital relic for Effect Hit Rate.
With sufficient effect hit rate, Fugue can consistently apply DEF reduction and generate energy on its own. However, it's worth noting that this light cone doesn't provide any additional team tools, making it lower than other options on this list.

Increases the wearer's Break Effect by 32% and increases their DMG to enemies hit by Shock or Wind Shear by 32%. This also applies to DoT. |
||
A slightly better F2P alternative to Fugue is Fermataas it provides the Break Effect stat, which Fugue needs at around 220% or more to maximize its support potential. Equipment Fermata helps alleviate the need to focus too hard on reaching this threshold through relic substats. But the second part of Fermat's effect isn't very useful for Fugue, as she isn't usually paired with DoT-oriented characters like Kafka or Black Swan. Instead, she excels in teams with Hypercarry units, where her focus is on improving Break DMG rather than DoT synergy.

Increases wearer's Break Effect by 40%. When the wearer uses their Ultimate, the DoT shared by the wearer increases by 48%, which lasts for 2 turns. When a target enemy suffering DoT imposed by the wearer is defeated, regenerates 6.0 Energy for the wearer. |
||
Alone Healing is relatively on par with Resolution shines like beads of sweat in terms of Fugue's own damage potential, especially due to its increase in Break Effect. But since it doesn't directly benefit the team DMG, it falls behind Resolution shines like beads of sweat (S5) in Hypercarry team compositions. As said, Alone Healing can still be a valuable option for those looking for a strong F2P pick, especially as a great stat due to its higher stats as a 5-star Cone of Light.

When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already ensnared, there is a 100% base chance to ensnare the hit enemy. Entangled enemies' DEF is reduced by 16% for 1 turn. |
||
While not fully F2P like the previous options on the list, Resolution shines like beads of sweat is the best 4-star light cone for Fugue, especially if players can max stack it. This cone of light offers additional team benefits by further reducing enemies' defense and applying a unique debuff, which can be useful in certain situations. However, if players don't have it on the S5, it may still be more beneficial to focus on the F2P options mentioned earlier.

Increases wearer's Break Effect by 60%. When an enemy target's weakness is broken, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the “Charring” condition, increasing its Break DMG taken by 18%, lasting for 2 turns. This effect can be stacked 2 times. |
||
Being Fugue's signature candle cone, Long road leads home is undoubtedly her best option. However, it is not as important as some candle cones are to other characters, such as Acheron or Boothill. This is because its main benefits are additional Break Effect and some team-wide buffs. These buffs, while useful, are not as important as those provided by Resolution shines like beads of sweatmeaning players are generally better off focusing on Fugue's eidolons if they want to further invest in her, or save resources to draw on upcoming characters.
