It seems like every high that Helldivers 2 hits is followed by a new low. After recapturing the magic of its post-launch period thanks to the Omens of Tyranny update, Arrowhead is once again in hot water with the community thanks to the recently announced Killzone Crossover. While fans were temporarily excited to don the Helghast armor, the prices put them off.

Helldivers 2 shows that lighter can be better
“No pain, no gain” is not always the best policy. Sometimes making it easier for players can increase game time and activity.
The crossover came in the form of Superstore items, but with high prices. The community hasn't taken too well to being forced to buy the StA-52 assault rifle for 615 Super Credits or the iconic helmet for 310 Super Credits. There has also been an outcry on several forums, claiming that the prices are exploitative.
Helldivers 2 fans aren't happy with Killzone Crossover pricing
The Helldivers subreddit, which was filled with love for the new update until yesterday, is now full of posts about the high prices of Killzone merchandise in the Superstore. “I understand that the game has to make money somehow, I understand that the work of the developers is not free, but charging half a war bond price for an assault rifle without optics is straight up nonsense,” said one of the posts.
Fans also noted that the latest Warbonds have generally seen fewer weapons than before, instead being filled with cosmetics and sundries instead. “What justification is there for defending something like this? It's not even just this latest item shop, the warbands are also shrinking in content. The first ones had 4 weapons, 3 skins, all the little extras. The newest one had 1 secondary weapon, 2 skins and all the little extras.”
Even loyal fans who want to give Arrowhead money are finding themselves reconsidering their choices after the prices of the crossover were revealed. “Yeah, I just bought the war bonds instead of farming because I wanted to support AH, but if they're going to keep pulling this… Idk, it's a bit worrying,” said one disappointed fan.
Arrowhead is aware of the backlash and has communicated with the community on the Helldivers 2 Discord server. “Hi – quick note on the Helghast thing,” wrote CEO Shams Jorjani, “First – this is our first collaboration so we'll figure it out as we go. Let us know what you want to see in the future Second is the optional – the more of this we sell – the more illuminated things we can keep releasing for free.”
Jorjani explained that they wanted to “try different things and see how players respond, how the stuff sells and improves over time.” However, the community was not too happy with this response, especially considering that the game is not free to play.
