8 Best Bleach Characters Who Never Fight

Although Bleach is primarily known for its captivating fight scenes, these characters stand out from the pack despite never engaging in combat.

Thanks to writer Tite Kubo's excellent character writing skills though, lazy characters in Whiten can still come off as entertaining to watch, whether it's because of their comical humor or because they possess an enormous amount of power. Regardless, these are the characters that are considered some of the laziest in the world Whiten series.

1 Kyoraku Shunsui

Suigetsu's nonchalant personality makes him a pretty lousy combatant

  • First appearance: Episode 24

Early in Whiten Kyoraku is introduced as a strong, but ultimately, very carefree member of the Gotei 13. When fans first see Kyoraku after Chad runs into him, the captain is on the floor drinking completely from his lonesome, even offering the enemy standing right offer him a drink.

When Chad declines and begins to launch a barrage of attacks, rather than jump into action, Kyoraku dodges each one like child's play, all while sitting down. He will take on more responsibility as the story progresses, but even when facing deadly threats like Coyote Starrk, Kyoraku's laziness still tends to get the better of him at the worst of times.

2 Yukio Hans Vorarlbern

Yukio can almost always be seen lazing around with his handheld console

  • First appearance: Episode 343

It can be easy to forget that Yukio is a member of the Fullbringers considering all he likes to do is hide away and play his handheld console. Whenever the Fullbringers have something serious to take care of, like when they're tasked with training Ichigo, Riruka has to be the one to push Yukio to pitch in, which he only does so reluctantly.

Bleach: 7 Biggest Betrayals in the Series, Ranked

These betrayals in the Bleach anime and manga provided some of the biggest plot twists in the series.

As a result, this guy barely gets any screen time as it's implied that whenever he's not urgently needed, he's engrossed in an intense gaming session. Even when Yukio is called back for the final arc, Yukio still rarely looks away from the screen. One thing is for sure though, whatever game he's playing it must take quite a while for him to still be at it so intensely.

3 Gremmy Thumeaux

Gremmy's imaginative powers mean he doesn't have to move a muscle in battle

  • First appearance: TYBW episode 15

Since Gremmy's ability, The Visionary, allows him to draw anything he can imagine into reality, he doesn't have to move a muscle when facing an enemy, making him a rather lazy fighter. A prime example of this on display can be seen in Gremmy's duel with the bloodthirsty captain of Squad 11, Zaraki Kenpachi.

While Kenpachi throws everything he has at Gremmy and is even forced to unleash his Bankai which takes a huge toll on his body, Gremmy stands in the same spot for most of the fight. He even managed to summon a meteor just by imagining it existed. Fortunately, Gremmy was given this unique power because his lazy personality definitely wouldn't have been compatible with any kind of sword fighting.

4 Coyote Stark

The number 1 Espada would rather relax and watch the world go by than fight

  • First appearance: Episode 138

It's ironic that out of all of Aizen's Espada, Starrk is the one to claim the #1 spot in terms of power level, as he also happens to be the most laid back and laziest of the bunch. When Starrk is forced to go up against Kyoraku during the Fake Karakura Town arc, he seems less than concerned about the captain standing in front of him, constantly telling Kyoraku that he'd rather avoid fighting if he can.

The truth is that Starrk possesses such an astounding amount of spiritual pressure, it meant that any hollow that even came close to him would be killed, forcing him to be isolated when he was young. As a result, Starrk has become quite used to lazing around and watching the world go by, despite being one of Aizen's strongest subordinates.

5 Marechiyo Omaeda

Omaeda's lazy personality often clashes with his serious and stoic captain

  • First appearance: Episode 30

Although Omaeda begins to gain some weight later in the series, during the first few arcs, he is largely characterized as a burden to his captain Soi Fon due to his lazy nature and obsession with potato chips. Unlike his stoic captain who is always deadly serious and focused on the mission, Omaeda is a much more carefree spirit who takes a relaxed approach to the events going on around him.

The 31 Best Anime To Watch If You Love Bleach

Those looking for something good to watch while waiting for TYBW to finish should check out these great animes like Bleach.

This is not to say that he doesn't spring into action when needed, but as Soi Fon knows all too well, trying to pressure this guy into doing his duty is no easy task. Thankfully, Kubo shows Omaeda in a much better light during the Millennium Blood War, but then it's hard to be so nonchalant when an army of Quincies arrives at your door.

6 Giselle Gewelle

Who needs to put in the effort when a zombie army can do it all for you?

  • First appearance: TYBW episode 15

Giselle's ability, The Zombie, allows her to resurrect her friends and enemies to become members of her own personal zombified army. As a result, Giselle doesn't really have to do any of the fighting herself, instead throwing mindless corpses at the enemy and then snacking on their flesh later if she's injured, as she was shown doing with her deceased “friend” Bambietta.

Since Giselle can also be cut to pieces without feeling a thing, it means she doesn't have to try as hard in her fights, letting her zombies get their hands dirty for her. This relaxed and laid-back personality has helped make Giselle a lovable, if still very creepy, member of the Sternritter ranks.

7 Rangiku Matsumoto

Every day in Soul Society is a lazy day for Rangiku

  • First appearance: Episode 30

Throughout the history of Whitenthere have been many scenes showcasing what each of the Soul Reapers does on their days off. For some, like Renji or Hitsugaya, this means training with their Zanpakuto, while for Byakuya it might mean filling out paperwork. But for Rangiku, even though she has an urgent responsibility to take care of, she is almost always shown getting preened in the bar with whoever she can convince to join her.

There have even been times when she has been shown teasing her captain Hitsugaya for being too “hardworking”, often ending in the two arguing with each other. Rangiku is another Soul Reaper who is more than willing to show what she's up to when the situation calls for it, even though she'd rather take a hot bath or enjoy a few rounds of sake instead.

8 Askin Nakk Le Var

It takes a lot to really start trying when you're engaged in a battle

  • First appearance: TYBW episode 17

Askin may be a high-ranking member of the Schutzstaffel, but that doesn't necessarily mean he always tries his best in battle. In fact, Askin tends to run away from any confrontation that seems to require him to use at least some energy, as shown when he sprints away from Grimmjow, only to then find a nice and peaceful place where he can enjoy a cup of coffee.

Later in the Millennium Blood War, Yoruichi even comments that Askin is purposefully holding back his power and only toying with his prey. If his picnic baskets and coffee machines are anything to go by, Askin would just prefer to sit and enjoy some delicious snacks, which is what he does for much of the first half of the final arc.
