Dead Island 2: 13 Things to Do After Beating the Story Quests (Post-Game Content)
After defeating Dead Island 2 main story missions, players can take on these interesting missions.
Well, to access these cards you need to get to the end of the 21st Story Quest, The Search for Truth. Not to spoil too much, but at the end your character learns the truth about the Zompocalypse and goes through a metamorphosis of sorts. But once the first card is unlocked, where are you going to get the rest?
Updated November 30, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Despite all the content added to Dead Island 2 in the two DLC campaigns, the additional DLC add-ons, and more, Numen Skills and Numen Cards have been left largely untouched. Most of the time, you still need to reach a certain point in the story to unlock these cards, and their effects can have a huge impact on your overall build and character, so it's important to know what they do, where to find them, and how they stack up against each other. With that in mind, let's take a deeper look at all the Numen cards in Dead Island 2 and talk about them in their entirety.
What are Numen skills?
The fourth and final level of trading cards
Before we elaborate on how to find more of these cards, let's take a quick step back by going over exactly what Numen Skills are. There is no consistent “theme” among them in terms of what they do, but all are skills that heavily modify certain mechanics of Dead Island 2.
For example, Corpse Blossom makes using Elemental Damage infinitely more fun, Glass Cannon is good for characters like Bruno and
Born Survivor makes it almost impossible to die as long as you play your cards right.
After gaining his first Numen Skill at the end of The Search for Truth, you'll find the others as rewards for other quests, with only one of them being found in a specific location out in the world. That said, the first Numen Skill you start with after their brief conversation with Lola Konradt at the end of this Story Quest changes based on the Slayer you use, which is one of the rare few mechanical differences between Slayers:
|
Surviving names |
Start Numen Skill |
|---|---|
|
Jacob |
Anger mismanagement |
|
Danny |
Anger mismanagement |
|
Carla |
Born alive |
|
Ryan |
Born alive |
|
Amy |
Glass cannon |
|
Bruno |
Glass cannon |
Standard Numen Skills (not including Corpse Blossom or Seismic Stomp) are split evenly across the 6 Slayers in the gamewith each pair of two characters beginning with something different. Now some may ask “Well, if I play Amy, what kind of reward would I get at the end of the Quest that would normally give the Glass Cannon?”
To develop a little more, Dani starts with Anger mismanagement, but Amy doesn't. So while Dani would get the Glass Cannon card as a reward from Side Quest The Art of War, Amy would get Anger Mismanagement. Basically, whatever Numen your character starts with, just assume they'll get Anger Mismanagement where they would usually get their standard Numen Skill.
Where to unlock the rest
Usually awarded as a main quest reward
As for the rest of the Numen Skills, they are all unlocked either very near the end of the main story or in the side quests that only become available after the story is completed. Here you can find each one:
|
Numen card |
Place |
Effect |
|---|---|---|
|
Anger mismanagement |
After defeating Noah and being cured by Konradt in The search for truth. |
You can stay in Fury Mode even after your Fury runs out, but you'll constantly start draining Health instead of Fury until you reach a certain point. |
|
Born alive |
Rewarded for completing the Side Quest Beacon of hope. |
When you're about to die, you instead unleash a powerful explosion around you that drains 25 percent of your Fury and knocks nearby enemies back. Then, for the next 5 seconds, you cannot drop below 1 HP and any attacks you land on enemies will steal life. |
|
Corpse Blossom |
Rewarded for completing the final Story Quest, End of the Line. |
All zombies killed by elemental damage (AKA Fire, Shock, or Caustic) will explode upon death with an explosion of the same elemental type. |
|
Glass cannon |
Rewarded for completing the Side Quest The art of war. |
You gain an innate 25 percent boost to Critical Damage. And whenever you're below 50 percent HP, you'll get an even bigger increase in Critical Damage. However, your overall toughness is reduced by 50 percent overall with this Numen card in effect. |
|
Seismic stomp |
Found in the subway, in this little alcove by a single subway car in the corner of a tunnel about 2/3 of the way towards the Metro Courtyard area leading to Hollywood Boulevard. |
With this active, Skull Stomp now triggers a powerful explosion on contract that drains the stability of all nearby zombies and also exposes them to Bleed. |
It's fun, even though there are 10+ cards being added Dead Rising 2 across its two DLC additions (SoLA and Haus), there are no new Numen cards added to either. Instead, a whole host of Ability Cards, Slayer Cards, and Survivor Cards are added that give you new options and abilities as you progress through the DLC. So if you're wondering if there are any Numen cards you might be missing or don't have access to without the DLC campaigns, don't worry, you can get them all in the base game.
