All Choices And Outcomes In Chapter 3 Of The Life And Suffering Of Sir Brante

You’re heading out of your hometown for the first time during your Youth in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, and the time is drawing near for you to segue into your more permanent Lot in life, depending on the choices you’ve made and the relationships you’ve fostered so far.

You’ve only got but a few short years left before you’re a fully-grown adult now, but the decisions you make during your Youth, the stats you build, and the relationships you foster will make or break you when it comes time to officially choose Sir Brante’s Lot in life.

This guide contains spoilers for The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante.

Introduction

Beginning your Youth in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante.

What’s New?

Your final youthful chapter of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante begins in 1134 when you and Tommas arrive in Eterna, the capital of the Empire.

Not only is this the final chapter before you’re formally recognized as an adult by the Empire, but it’s also when you’ll officially declare your Lot in life, which will vastly change the outcome of your game. You’ve no doubt noticed the turbulent relationship between the haughty Nobles and the suffering Commoners, and all of this will come to a head in 1135

Every decision you make up until you decide what to do when the Imperial College is forcibly closed is important, but nothing is more pivotal to the story you see in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante than the choice you make during a scene called The Three Lots.

Given that your Lot changes the story entirely after The Three Lots scene, we’ve detailed the Youth chapter of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante up through the decision for this guide.

What’s Changed?

Most critically, your Childhood and Adolescent stats combine to form your adult stats in this game, with one stat from each chapter of your life combining to contribute to one of your adult stats. Each of your two Childhood stats will have a combination with each of your three Adolescent stats, for a total of six adult stats for the game.

Perception and Nobility from your youth combining into your adult Diplomacy stat in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante.

The point totals you had for these categories in your younger years will be carried over and added up and calculated to give you your starting stat for each category, but these will change naturally into your adulthood as you make decisions.

Diplomacy

Your knowledge of the laws and your connectedness to nobles or other people of importance.

Perception + Nobility

Manipulation

How easy it is for you to get people to do what you want or need them to do.

Perception + Ingenuity

Theology

Faithfulness, proficiency with religious texts and divine law, and your ability to defend the Faith when questioned.

Perception + Spirituality

Valor

Strength in duels and battles, and how effectively you command military groups.

Determination + Nobility

Scheming

How effective you are when it comes to criminal behavior (assault, murder, sabotage, inciting riots, or organizing ambushes).

Determination + Ingenuity

Eloquence

Your charisma when giving speeches and guiding people to the Faith.

Determination + Spirituality

Your stats will not change again after this; these are the traits you’ll have for the remainder of your life, though they’ll expand as you grow older still.

With more detailed stats now that you’re older, the ranges for each stat are much bigger now. Each one will be between zero and 20 based on your decisions, and you’ll find that you’ll often need at least a ten or higher in a skill to pass a check with it with much higher barriers for rare events.

Additionally, you’ll want to begin to shape your stats according to your Lot that you intend to aim for with your Sacrament. Someone pursuing a life of faith in the Clergy, for example, doesn’t need to worry about their Valor even almost as much as a Nobleman will.

After this, you spend time studying for your exams and experiencing Eterna and end up hanging out with children of other Nobles of the Mantle. They suggest going a Duel, to a Salon where a speech about Commoners is scheduled to take place, or to a secret society providing pleasures for Commoners.. The group splits up, and some friends go to each location.

The year 1135 begins with Cornelius Tempest, the Great Chancellor, that results in a boost to Power, changing the status of Eterna into Strugle for Power going into 1135.

Next, Sophia arrives and tells you she’s fighting against the Lots in Eterna, about the Secret Chancellery trying to execute a college professor who lied about being a nobleman. She’d like to save Dextra, and she wants your help to do it, even if you did potentially try to turn her over to Dorius Otton last chapter, for which you may be able to apologize now.

This naturally upsets the people, students and collegiate staff alike, and unrest begins to break out, heralding the appearance of the Clergy to keep the peace.

The decision you make in this scene sets the path for your entire life’s Lot, so choose carefully! This is a major turning point in the story and will dictate the future you see, since each Lot comes with a vastly different main story.

The scene is long no matter what you choose, but it lays out the story of what will be happening to your character going forward: how their life as a nobleman, clergyman, or member of the Lotless will begin to shape up from here.

After, you’ll go back to your room one more time before proceeding into your new Lot and will bump into Tommas, who’s joined the Military Academy in Eterna. He offers you friendship rings, which are said to keep people bound together as friends for the rest of time no matter what their lives may bring.

You have a text scene writing home after this to tell your family which Lot you took, and who’s happy with your decision depends on which Lot you ended up in. Robert and Stephan are pleased with the Path of the Nobleman, Lydia and Nathan are pleased with the Path of the Priest, and Gloria is pleased with the Path of the Lotless. You’ll gain relationship points with each character who’s happy with your choice.

From here, the story varies wildly between the Paths, so you’ll finish your Youth in one of three ways and pursue a life of nobility and political might with the Path of the Nobles, reinforce your faith on the Path of the Priest, or fight with Sophia to try and change how life is in the Empire on the Path of the Lotless.
