Brand New Obsidian Fallout Game Officially Confirmed

After weeks of rumors, Bethesda has announced that developer Obsidian Entertainment is indeed working on a new one Fall-out game. Although this game seems to be separate from Fallout 5details surrounding the game's setting and story are unclear. Obsidian's previous work on the franchise includes developing the fan-favorite Fallout: New Vegasand director Josh Sawyer returns to helm this Fall-out project as well.

This confirmation comes after the recent upheaval at Xbox, where over 3,200 employees were laid off as part of a restructuring within the company. Both Obsidian and Bethesda were hit by these layoffs and apparently work shifted internally towards more Fall-out experiences. As a result, Obsidian's work on Avowed 2 was reportedly discontinued in favor of this new one Fall-out game, but there seems to be little hope for it Avowed 2 will still be released one day, with a small team continuing to work on it.

In a new statement about the future of the company and its franchises, Bethesda officially confirmed that Obsidian is working on a new one Fall-out game, as rumored. Earlier, industry insiders had leaked that Obsidian had started developing a new one Fall-out games after Xbox's restructuring, but this official statement confirms that the original leaks are true. Bethesda's statement on the matter is as follows:

“The Wasteland continues to expand as we partner again with our longtime friends at Obsidian Entertainment. We're excited to confirm that they're working with us on a new Fallout project. We'll have more to share in the future.”

The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently the studio's primary focus, and it has been suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 may launch in 2028 or 2029. More updates for Starfield is also confirmed to be in development, and Bethesda has plans to launch new Starborn content in early 2027. The company also plans to support the development of Creations for use across its franchises, including Starfield.
