Adrian has been writing, criticizing and thinking about games since he first bought an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news and features for Game Rant and believes that games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies and TV shows. When he's not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and enjoys geeking out about tech and retro gaming at HackerNoon. Outside of the gaming world, he spends a lot of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. After the release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag resync, Ubisoft has confirmed that the rest of 2026 will feature a lighter set of major releases than previous years. Ubisoft has been in the midst of a major reorganization in recent years as the publisher continues to piece together how to move forward with its biggest franchises.
Ubisoft confirms a slower release schedule before major franchises return
As part of Ubisoft's latest 2026 financial report (via GamesRadar ), the company states that it expects a lighter release calendar for the remainder of the 2026 fiscal year through March 31, 2027, when the fiscal year ends. The only major premium version left for the company to launch is Rayman Legends Retold in October, with nothing planned for the spring of 2027. However, Ubisoft has said that “significantly larger” years are planned for the coming fiscal cycles, which run from 2027 to 2029, with each of its biggest franchises returning in that period. The publisher remains committed to producing future entries in Assassin's Creed, Ghost Reconand Far Cry franchise, with Far Cry in particular received a massive series of leaks lately. Still, there's no word on smaller projects or the status of Ubisoft's various development projects, such as Beyond Good and Evil 2 and that Splinter cell remake.
