Everything you need to know

After more than a year of waiting, A-1 Pictures finally announced a new one Solo Leveling project. Before the announcement, fans were certain that the studio would likely make a third season that would cover the next arcs of the story, but it seems that A-1 Pictures has other plans.

The next project is called Solo Leveling: Beyond the system. It won't be a regular anime season, but rather a movie. According to early reports, the film will be released in Japan in 2027. An exact release date hasn't been shared yet, but that doesn't mean fans can't be hyped for the project.

Which Arcs Will Solo Leveling: Beyond the System Cover?

Solo Leveling returns in 2027

Solo Leveling: Beyond The System is a direct sequel to the second season of the anime, meaning it will cover the arcs that come afterwards. There are still many arcs that the project can cover, but based on the movie's title, it will adapt two arcs – the Ahjin Guild Arc and the Double Dungeon Arc.

The Ahjin Guild arc isn't as action-packed as some of the previous ones, but it makes up for it with the immense drama and tension. In the arc, Jinwoo forms the Ahjin Guild and begins to take on new challenges, mostly on his own. When the Knights Guild approaches him, he accepts their offer and decides to help them. While Jinwoo is busy helping the guild, his sister gets caught in the middle of an Orc invasion. So, Jinwoo has to leave the Knights Guild and go after his sister. One thing is for sure: the Ahjin Guild arc will keep fans on the edge of their seats. But the main attraction of Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will be the double dungeon arc.

Ever since Sung Jinwoo gained his powers, fans have been wondering why he was chosen as the player and what the system is. Thankfully, the wait will end when the movie comes out. The title of the movie “Beyond The System” makes it quite clear that it will reveal many details related to the system. In the Double Dungeon arc, Jinwoo will go to Cartenon Temple, the place where it all started for Jinwoo. Normally the location would be inaccessible, but the hero got the key after hitting level 100.

When Jinwoo reached the Cartenon Temple, he met Kandiaru, the architect of the system. Jinwoo had many questions for him, but Kandiaru wasn't going to tell the hero everything. So he offered him a proposition – beat all the statues for the chance to learn about the system. So Jinwoo had to fight the very statues that had almost killed him during the first visit. As expected, this time was different. Instead of running around in fear, Jinwoo absolutely obliterated the statues. Even when the god statue entered the battle, the result was no different.

When everyone had been beaten, the architect entered the fray. He set up another challenge and this time he asked Jinwoo to beat him. The Architect set a 10-minute timer and informed Jinwoo that failure to beat him within the allotted time would result in the latter's life being forfeited. As expected, the architect was a cut above the statues, and he made Jinwoo work hard. In fact, the hero was dangerously close to dying and survived only because of his quick thinking and reflexes. After starting on the back foot, Jinwoo slowly began to take control and eventually overtook Kandiaru. He then took down the Architect with a couple of minutes left on the clock.

I am the record of your struggles, the proof of your resistance, and the reward of your sufferings. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am terror. — Ashborn

After being beaten, Kandiaru puts Jinwoo in a suspended state. The former hoped that the Shadow Monarch would take over Jinwoo's body and be reborn again. However, the Shadow Monarch had no intention of being reborn. Instead, he entrusted all the rest of his power to Jinwoo. The Architect was not happy with the Shadow Monarch's actions, and he tried to stop him, but the latter was two steps ahead. He had locked Kandiaru out of the system, preventing him from disrupting the process.

In addition to focusing on Jinwoo and the Architect, the film will also give more screen time to other interesting characters, such as Cha Hae-In, Choi Jong-In, and Baek Yoonho. Many fans have complained about the lack of screen time for the side characters, but thankfully Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will fix that.

Is A-1 Pictures not making Solo Leveling season 3?

Potential Release Date Solo Leveling Movie

Following the film's announcement, there have been significant murmurs among fans about the future of the franchise. For the longest time, fans had believed that A-1 Pictures would be busy making the third season of Solo Leveling, but now they have been proven wrong. But the decision to make a new movie instead of a regular anime season was probably made a long time ago.

The studio was likely motivated and somewhat influenced by the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. While it's unlikely that Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will reach similar numbers, there's no denying that the film will make significant profits. Depending on the success of the new Solo Leveling movie, A-1 Pictures will decide whether to make another movie or continue producing regular shows.

Regardless of the film's earnings, there is no doubt that there will be a third season of Solo Leveling. As previously mentioned, there are still many arcs left, and it is unreasonable to assume that all of them will be adapted into films. Now the question is, when will Solo Leveling Season 3 be released?

The system uses me and I use the system. —Sung Jinwoo

Considering that Beyond The System will be released sometime in 2027, it is likely that the third season of Solo Leveling will air in late 2028 or early 2029. Fans are aware that it takes a lot of time to create a top-quality production, so they cannot expect the project to be released before 2028.

After the release of the third season, it is possible that the final battle between Sung Jinwoo and his enemies will be covered in a movie. However, this is just an assumption based on how other popular anime series are also leaning towards making movies. The best example is obviously Demon Slayer. The series is releasing a trilogy to cover the entire Infinity Castle arc, and as expected, they've made a significant amount of money. So it is highly unlikely that Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will be the last film in the franchise.
