What to do with water ripples in Moonlight Peaks?

IN Moonlight Peakssparkling water bubbles occasionally appear on the surface of water in rivers and lakes found in the game. On the surface, these appear to be special fishing spots where you can catch rare or legendary fish, but actually trying to fish these spots doesn't seem to yield any special results, leading to some confusion among players.

What are the sparkling water ripples in Moonlight Peaks

The sparkling, bubbly ripples that appear on the surface of bodies of water i Moonlight Peaks is dive sites which you can interact with while inside Mermaid shapean ability you unlock in “The Mermaid's Wish” story quest. These are not fishing grounds, and trying to fish here is just like fishing anywhere else.

After you unlocked the mermaid form, called Aqua form in the game, you will be able to transform into a mermaid who can swim in water, allowing you to reach new places that were previously inaccessible.

To dive underwater, approach a water ripple until you see “Dive” prompt appears on the screen. Press the interaction key here, and your character will disappear underwater for a few seconds before emerging with an item from the sea.

The items you can get from this interaction range from junk like rusty fish cans and plastic rings to blueprints and coins.

How to unlock Mermaid Form in Moonlight Peaks

IN Moonlight Peaksyou can unlock the Aqua form to swim in the water as a mermaid and interact with dive sites after completing the “A Mermaid's Wish” quest. This quest appears quite late in the game, after you gain access to Luna Bay. Here's how the progression played out in my playthrough.

  • Summer evening 25, year 1: Ludo finds you at your home and tells you about the legend of mermaids behind the howling marshes, triggering the quest “A Curious Passage”.
  • Summer evening 28, year 1: Samuel talks to you about his lost love when you enter the town, which triggers the quest “The Mysterious Bay”.
  • Autumn Night 5, Year 1: Ludo finds you at your house and tells you to bring a Margherita Pizza to the broken bridge connecting the Howling Marshes and Luna Bay, triggering the “Ludo's Plan” quest.
  • Autumn Evening 10, Year 1: Samuel proposes to Kim at the party, and she says yes. Kim then asks you to convince the frog Yabbis to give her leg so she can go to her wedding, which triggers the quest “A Mermaid's Wish”.
  • At the end of “A Mermaid's Wish”, Yabbis will brew a potion that will give all three mermaids new legs, and he'll tell you to drink as well to get a tail. You will drink the potion in a cutscene and unlock the mermaid form.

The exact dates when the quests listed in the section above will trigger depend on how quickly you complete the prerequisites.
