Depending on your progress in Moonlight Peaksyou may or may not have encountered Death. Not the act of dying, but the literal character named Death who walks around in a Hawaiian shirt like a Grim Reaper on vacation.
If you have, you've probably also noticed that everywhere you go, floating skulls fly around. These flying skulls are soul blobs that Death will ask you to capture for them. There are 100 in total, and if you take the time to catch them all, you'll get a reward to make up for all the time and energy you wasted.
Where to find death
As mentioned, in order for the soul blobs to appear, you must first do so meet Death at the graveyard in Misty Shores. Unfortunately, when you first start the game, the path to Misty Shores will be blocked by a spell cast by Fiona.
To reach Misty Shores you must progress through the main quests until you clear the path and complete the missing Crest quest after Brook. Both of these conditions must be met. If you've already had the dinner party at Ambrosia Manor and still haven't seen Death, you might be experiencing a bug.
Once you have completed both of these, you should encounter Death within the next day or two after going to Misty Shores. As long as you do as much as you can each day, this will likely happen somewhere between day 10 and day 15, and you can't miss it because it will be an automatic cutscene when you enter the area.
Death will only introduce themselves on the first day, but return to Misty Shores the next day, and they should tell you about the Soul Blobs and provide you with a net to catch them. This is the same net that you will use to catch the Critters in the game. Once you have that, you're ready to catch soul blobs.
Even if you miss, it will cost energy to swing your net. So be careful chasing soul blobs and animals because they will run away from you. The easiest way to ensure you don't waste a swing seems to be to drive them into corners where they can't escape.
All soul blobs
Unlike Critters or Fish, Soul Blobs are not specific to any time or place. Instead, they are randomized every time you enter a new area. As said, there will never be recurring Soul Blobsso you will only create the ones you miss when you enter a new area.
Generally, it's easier to catch them while you're doing other tasks than to seek them out deliberately, but if you want to go on a Soul Blob hunt, who am I to stop you?

Rewards for collecting all soul blobs
Once you have collected a certain number of soul blobs, Death will appear outside your house at the beginning of the day and reward you with antique clocks. This will happen three times, and each time you receive the same gift, an antique clock will allow you to make your days longer or shorter.
You don't have to wear the antique watches for the effect to happen. To use the clock, open your settings, and you should now see an option to adjust how many minutes your days are. Each time Death visits you will unlock a new option for this setting.
