Adrian has been writing, criticizing and thinking about games since he first bought an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news and features for Game Rant and believes that games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies and TV shows. When he's not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and enjoys geeking out about tech and retro gaming at HackerNoon. Outside of the gaming world, he spends a lot of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. While Ubisoft is still tight-lipped about what's coming next Far Cry part, a notable data miner has recently leaked details of what the development team is planning for Far cry 7and the requirements indicate a large departure from the formula for the series. Far Cry fans haven't seen a new entry since 2021, marking the longest stretch without a new game for a franchise that had reliably maintained three- to four-year development cycles.
On July 6, 2026, Ubisoft dataminer RogueTX took to Twitter to give a brief rundown of what fans can expect from Far cry 7which longtime fans may notice is a huge departure from the typical Far Cry game. Many of these bullet points are the leaker doubling down on claims they made earlier this year and last year. According to RogueTx, the next game in the series will be a PvE/PvP extraction shooter where players will have 72 hours to rescue their family members from the Sons of Truth, an enemy faction previously rumored to have Cillian Murphy as Far cry 7the main villain. Additionally, Rogue says the game will feature safehouses and the always-controversial weapon durability mechanic. In a later post, the data miner clarifies it Far cry 7 will actually feature a campaign alongside the PvE mode. However, as with all leaks, fans should take this information with a grain of salt.
