Diablo 4 Season 14 finally makes its worst mythic unique viable

Diablo 4 Season 14 changes the way Mythics work, resulting in one of the worst Mythic Uniques historically becoming a viable option. With the release of Diablo 4 Season 14 and the 3.1.0 update, Mythics are no longer a rarity but an item quality, and each Unique in Diablo 4 has the chance to become mythical. While this change is quite dramatic for a game whose builds have relied on a set of extra powerful items to succeed, it leaves room for less commonly used Mythics to see play.

Season of Death Awakening isn't just a remake Diablo 4's Mythics, but also adds a host of seasonal features for players to experience. Included in these seasonal mechanics are the return of the Realmwalkers, which grant access to the Deathtoll Chambers when defeated, and a new monster family, The Risen, which includes a new seasonal Lair Boss. Diablo 4 players who have yet to purchase the Lord of Hatred expansion can even get access to a free trial of the Warlock class up to level 25 to start Season 14.

Diablo 4's worst class is finally viable in Season 14

Nesekem, the Herald is Finally a Viable Spiritborn Mythic in Diablo 4 Season 14

Infamously, one of the worst myths in the Diablo 4 was the Spiritborn's glaive Nesekem, the Herald. Before the Mythic 3.0 update in season 14, Nesekem, the Herald was quite underpowered compared to some of the non-Mythic Unique weapons the Spiritborn had access to. While a +200 to All Stats and +1200 Maximum Life affixes can be of some help, its unique affix never outshined any of the alternate options Spiritborns could use in its place.

+400% damage on elite

+200 to all stats
+1200 Maximum lifespan
+250.0% Critical Strike Damage
+450.0% override damage
Every 2 seconds you randomly mark a nearby enemy. Marked enemies are vulnerable, and your attacks against them are guaranteed to Critical Strike and Overpower. Hitting a marked enemy 10 times clears the mark from them.
In the days when Ajaw Y'ishich ruled Nahantu, the crown of the phoenix constellation fell in fiery glory. From it was forged a blade that withered bravery, heralding a time of despair.

IN Diablo 4 Season 14, Mythic is no longer a rarity and is now a quality that can be applied to all Uniques. New Mythic Uniques can drop from bosses and chests as before, but any Unique can also be upgraded to a Mythic with the Horadric Cube. Doing so requires Pandemonium Fragments found through seasonal reputation boards, radiant caches, and the seasonal Lair Boss. Mythic Uniques now provide a 30% increase in its unique power, making them particularly powerful for Season 14 builds.

An important part of making Mythic Uniques possible to craft in the Horadric Cube is the added ability to reroll some of the affixes that those Uniques come with. While each Unique has two guaranteed placements, other slots can be rerolled for the optimal placement for a given build. Since previous Mythics had completely static affixes, there is potential for a historically underwhelming Mythic like Nesekem, the Herald to become useful with a rerolled affix and a 30% more powerful Unique affix.

  • Guaranteed mount 1: Weapon damage

  • Guaranteed Mount 2: Vulnerable Damage Multiplier

Both the guaranteed spots for Nesekem, Herald in Diablo 4 Season 14 is some of the better options a Mythic can have in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. With Lord of Hatred's switch to Skill Trees, individual additive stats to skills are less valuable than Damage Multiplier skills. Nesekem, Herald already focuses on applying Vulnerable to enemies with his unique ability, so having a guaranteed Vulnerable Damage Multiplier affix provides excellent synergy that the previous version of Mythic lacked.
